Rockin' Green Laundry Detergent: Review

The awesome people at Rockin' Green sent me some samples for review (and keep an eye out in the week for an AWESOME giveaway).

Rockin’ Green is an award-winning manufacturer of eco-friendly cleaning products designed to make cleaning easier and greener. Most well-known for their clean-rinsing laundry detergent formulated for use on all fabrics and especially useful on cloth diapers, Rockin’ Green produces detergents for hard, soft and normal water conditions.

Rockin’ Green also carries Funk Rock, a first-of-its kind natural ammonia bouncer, and Melody, an odor-neutralizer and air freshener home spray. With the exception of Funk Rock, all products come in seven natural scents, such as Mighty Mighty Marshmallow, Earth Wind & Orchids, Rage Against the Raspberry, and Bare Naked Babies (unscented). Rockin’ Green was founded in 2009 by Kim Webb, an avid cloth diapering mom who desired a better way to clean cloth diapers and treat her kid’s sensitive skin.

Rockin’ Green is known for their laundry detergent which is pretty popular in the cloth diaper community. It's designed to rinse easily and work well with any fabrics. Rockin' Green carries three formulas, Classic Rock for regular water, Hard Rock for hard water, and Soft Rock for soft water. They even sell little tester strips on their website if you are unsure of where your water falls. They also have a product called "Funk Rock" for when your diapers have some serious ammonia build up and need a good soak. They even say it works on animal messes as well.

We have some pretty hard water. We had hard water in Georgia, but we have even harder water here in Arizona. There is no denying it based on the hard mineral deposits around my sinks and shower heads. Hard Rock detergent is what we have been using since Nugget was a wee little. So, as you can see, this is a brand we've actually used for quite some time.

We first purchased it with the intention of being our cloth diaper detergent. However, we started using it on all of our laundry and household wash. Rockin' Green is great for our sensitive skin- Nugget and I break out from nearly everything else. She even broke out from that great smelling baby detergent that EVERYONE uses. Well, my kid can't use that stuff.

Since we have been Rockin' Green users, the company has expanded their product line and now carries Femme Rock (for lady cloth), Dog House Rock (for dog beds and toys), and Dish Detergent.

I was one of the first product testers for the Dish Detergent and I liked it, but Hubby is one that prefers using those little packets that you toss in the washer. I'm sure I'll convert him one day soon. :)

You guys should already know how I feel about transparency with companies and the products they sell. I hate when companies avoid being up front regarding the ingredients and barely answer direct questions when asked.
Here's the product ingredient list:
Sodium carbonate , sodium percarbonate, natural chelating agents, sodium sulfate, biodegradable surfactants, natural fragrance oils (if scented is chosen).
Since, I'm your crunchy granola friend, of course I'm going to totally love the fact that this company is truly eco-friendly- No greenwashing here. It's phosphate free and Earth friendly. It is low sudsing; because, it doesn't have Sodium Laureth Sulfate and rinses out easily making it a good choice for washing cloth diapers as well as using in a HE machine (which we have).

Rockin’ Green’s Commitment to the Environment
  • Rockin’ Green scents are made from 100% natural essential oils and are organic too
  • Rockin’ Green products are dye and phosphate free
  • Rockin’ Green uses no fillers, enzymes or optical brighteners
  • Rockin’ Green laundry detergents are clean rinsing and leave no residue on clothes, linens, or diapers, improving the life of fabrics and leaving no chemical residue on skin
  • Rockin’ Green laundry detergent requires only 2 tbsp of detergent for a full load, which means it uses less resources (packaging) and requires less resources to distribute/ship
  • Rockin’ Green products are 100% biodegradable, leaving less chemicals to enter our precious ecosystem
  • All Rockin’ Green products are USA made and manufactured in San Antonio, Texas, U.S.A.The company employs workers in the U.S. and products travel a shorter distance to get to its end users.
As far as the scents? Love them and the variety. I've tried the Motley Clean, Rage against the Raspberries, Lavender Mint Revival, and the Bare Naked Babies. I love them all. They smell great before washing, but there's no residual scent after washing. This means there is no residual residue. No leftover soap or smells. Which means it's super safe for sensitive skin.

So, friends. Go check out Rockin' Green. It really does rock. Just sayin'

Also, if you go to their facebook page, you can find a 15% off coupon for a purchase on their site!
