DropCam high-definition, Wi-Fi video camera

DropCam Giveaway

Hosted By: The Nurse Mommy
Co-Hosted By: Everything Mommyhood

What's a DropCam? Dropcam is a high-definition, Wi-Fi video camera with remote viewing and two-way sound for your home or business.

I’ve been looking for a wireless camera to use as a baby camera for Fallon when I came across the DropCam.  The company was nice enough to offer me one of the cameras for review.

This amazing little contraption doubles as a video camera and a baby monitor.  It's a high definition, Wi-Fi video camera with two-way sound. You can download their app onto your smart phone or tablet, and view what’s going on or login from a computer. I had a difficult time with setting up, since I had the wrong Wi-Fi connection. Not a big deal, I just switched the settings, and my Dropcam was up and running in no time at all. I plugged it into my computer for initial setup, plugged it into the wall. After that? I just pointed it where I wanted it to record.

The picture is great, and the two-way sound feature is pretty cool. I can talk to people and see things in my house even when I’m not there, which is pretty cool. The HD video is 720p. For those who know what that means, that’s pretty good.

I wasn’t able to attend one of my daughter’s physical therapy sessions because I was working; however, I was able to watch part of it because of this camera. This camera has allowed me to participate in her therapy even though I'm not actually there in person. It helps me keep up with our home activities, since I'm able to watch what the therapist does and can try to work on those things later on.

As long as you have an outlet and Wi-Fi access, you can use the camera. They also include wall mounting brackets, in case you want to mount the camera on the wall. This is so much more than your average baby monitor: it can be used as a security camera, as well as you can set it to notify you when something walks by it or when it senses noise. The only thing that it doesn’t do is rotate, but I’m sure they will be coming out with that soon. Can’t wait for that option.
