Mad Hippie Advanced Skin Care

Welcome to the Sweet Handmade Summer Event!

The rest of this month, we will be posting a new giveaway for a handmade item each day! We are excited to support WAHMs and Small Businesses and share some of our favorite shops with you! Please be sure to check out all of our Sweet Handmade Summer Giveaways!

Today's giveaway is sponsored by Mad Hippie Advanced Skin Care.

I had the opportunity to review two products of the Mad Hippie Skin Care line, the Cream Cleanser and Eye Cream. I am absolutely am IN LOVE with this product line. I won't lie, I love it so much that I kind of wish I had the chance to review the whole facial care line. :)

About our sponsor: Mad Hippie Advanced Skin Care is a small family owned company, started in Portland, Maine. They "migrated" to Austin, Texas, "to help keep them weird". Their goal has always been to make the safest, most effective products utilizing scientific advanced actives combined with Mother Nature's finest antioxidants to give (us) healthier, younger skin!
At Mad Hippie, we take skin care seriously, but we also take corporate responsibility seriously. We know and appreciate the faith a customer puts into a company when buying their line, and that’s why we strive to always make the safest, most effective products possible.  Unfortunately, the beauty care industry is riddled with companies that are strictly profit-minded & willing to fill their products with anything if it is cheap, regardless of the health consequences to the consumer. Call us hippies, but we just don’t feel that’s right.
Here at Mad Hippie we wouldn’t put anything into our skin care products that we wouldn’t feel comfortable putting on to our own skin. Ever. It can’t stop there though. We also take our responsibility to the planet seriously & that’s why we are always working to further reduce our carbon footprint and impact on the environment. From recently switching to some of the only fully recyclable airless pumps on the market, to printing entirely with soy inks using 100% wind energy (RECs), Mad Hippie is dedicated to the preservation of the environment. So, give our natural skin care products a try and feel good knowing you are taking a step towards healthier, more beautiful skin, while we work together towards a healthier, more beautiful planet.
With the green movement fully underway, many people often forget that what we put on to our skin is just as important as what we put in to our bodies.  More and more studies have shown the ability of topically applied agents to penetrate the skin, so by choosing to go all natural, you are limiting not only your skin’s exposure to many harmful agents, but also that of your entire body.
When searching out safe skin care products one must remember that it is not just the creams, lotions and facial products that that pose a risk, but instead anything that comes in contact with our skin. This includes deodorants, shampoos, conditioners, makeup, soaps and detergents.  In fact, estrogen-mimicking parabens, one of the most widely used preservatives in personal care products today, are regularly found in the biopsies of breast cancer tissue.  A likely culprit – the parabens found in many deodorants and antiperspirants.

It is time that we stop drawing a line between products that we put in to our body versus those that we put on to our body.  It is time that we start demanding the same quality standards for our personal care products that we do for the foods that we eat.

The awesome products I had the chance to review are the Mad Hippie Natural Facial Cream Cleanser and Mad Hippie Natural Eye Cream.

Cream Cleanser:
A Gentle, Balancing Cream Cleanser That Removes Free Radicals & Impurities While Moisturizing & Healing.
One big thing I love about Mad Hippie is that ALL the ingredients are listed on the package as well as their website. Their website details the benefits of each ingredient in the Cream Cleanser and how it is of a benefit to your skin.
Cream Cleanser Ingredient Highlights: Organic Jojoba Oil, Orchid Extract, Organic Macadamia Oil, Sodium Hyaluronate, Algae Extract, Sesame Oil, Green Tea, Sodium PCA,Shea Butter.

The one thing that is different about this cleanser as compared to "typical" cleansers is that this doesn't foam up; because, it doesn't have sodium laureth/lauryl sulfate. This is important to note because it doesn't leave your skin feeling dry and itchy after you wash your face. It doesn't have a stinky or overly powerful scent. A couple months ago, I was dealing with a bit of stress and I was starting to look like a teenager in puberty again. I've been using this for a few weeks now, and it's cleared my skin up without drying my skin out, which usually happens with "acne" cleansers.

Eye Cream:
Tetra-peptide Eye Cream packed with powerful antioxidants.  Formulated to address issues specific to the thin, fragile skin around the eyes.

As with the Cream Cleanser, the eye cream also lists all the ingredients as well as the benefits and purposes of each.
Eye Cream Ingredient Highlights: Eyeliss, Regu-age,Matrixyl 3000, Haloxyl, Chamomile Extract, Vitamin K, Pomegranate, Vitamin C, Wheat Protein, Vitamin B3, Argan Oil, Buckwheat, White Tea, Ceramide, Vitamin E.
I have definitely noticed over the past few weeks that my "bags" under my eyes are less puffy and less purple. I am lucky not to have many wrinkles yet, so fortunately I can't really report on that benefit. However, those especially sleepy days where my eyes are super puffy, I've compared this to Clinique's "All About Eyes" cream/gel that is supposed to help decrease eye puffs, darkness and fine lines, and holds makeup in place. I used Clinique on one eye, and Mad Hippie on the other, and after 3 days, I could definitely tell the difference on the Mad Hippie side. Much less purple and puff. Plus, the added benefit? Mad Hippie is ALL NATURAL.
Check out Mad Hippie's website for more information regarding why Natural Skin Care is so important, and Mad Hippie's blog for information about new products and more detailed information regarding the ingredients they choose (and from where they are obtained). I know I keep talking about how stinking awesome this company is, so I've got one more thing- they believe in their product so much so that they stand by their product, and offer a 60-day 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you're not happy (which is SO unlikely to happen), return the unused portion and they'll refund 100% of your money. Yes, really.
