Review: Romo, your new robot friend

Romo, your new robot friend

OH MY GOSH!

This little guy, we named him Blink Monster, is so cute! It's targeted to kids 8 and up so I figured there wouldn't be much my little my boys could do with him. I was WRONG! Yes, they needed Daddy's help but they had a blast with him.

We haven't had time to discover all the stuff our amazing "Blink Monster" does, but already this is the toy requested first thing in the morning. By far, the favorite feature is the remote control feature. Yup. You heard me. You can control your Romo from anywhere in the world. You just download the free app on an alternate device and it communicates with your Romo. But, I'm getting ahead of myself; I'm so excited.

You download the free Romo app to your device (Romo is currently available for the iPhone 5, iPod Touch 5, iPhone 4, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S and iPod Touch 4), attach your device into the robot base and let the fun begin!

Romo Remote
Romo follows commands, recognizes colors, displays various expressions and even turns green when he spins around too fast! The more you play with Romo, the more you will train him and teach him. There are several tutorials with "unlockable content" with a game style feel where you can earn stars as you complete each tutorial. The most fun my guys had with "Blink Monster" is when we downloaded the Romo Control app to my iPad mini and took advantage to the remote control feature. Blink Monster chased the kids around and elicited giggles and screams of joy from our two happy kiddos. I only wish the base allowed for the cover to remain on the iPod so I didn't have to worry too much about the kids grabbing it, but the faces, and sounds Blink Monster makes even helped this mommy fall in love with him too.

Take a look at the pictures and video. I'm sure he'll bring a smile to your face too. Romo is available for purchase for under $150 at Brookstone and Romotive. And you should have time to get one for Christmas for the little (or big) kid on your list!
