Asics Gel Pursue

Almost 3 months ago I had a hip replacement. As i’m recovering it was recommended that I get a new pair of walking shoes as my walk will be different and I needed new support. I reached out to Asics to do a review on one of their shoes.  I was so happy when they agreed to send me their new Gel- Pursue shoe.

The first time I wore them, was just a normal day going to the dr, but it was still someplace other than my house. I could tell right away that they had more support than my other shoes. I can tell a huge difference between the Gel-Pursue shoes and my regular tennis shoe.

I have another surgery scheduled in a couple hours actually (9/25). Once I am healed from that, my goal is to walk “normal” and do at least a 5k walk next spring. It’s a lofty goal, but I think I can do it, and who knows, maybe i’ll even be able to run a little of it.

I have noticed that when I wear my Asics my leg doesn’t hurt as much as quickly as it does when i’m wearing sandals or flats, even around the house. Lesson learned that i need to wear these shoes all the time.

Here are the technical highlights about the shoes:

  • Impact Guidance System (I.G.S®)
ASICS® design philosophy that employs linked componentry to enhance the foot's natural gait from heel strike to toe-off.
  • FluidRide™
FluidRide™ provides the ultimate combination of bounce back and cushioning properties with reduced weight and exceptional durability.
  • Rearfoot and Forefoot GEL® Cushioning Systems
Attenuates shock during impact and toe-off phases, and allows movement in multiple planes as the foot transitions through the gait cycle.

  • Guidance Trusstic System®
This Trusstic System® integrates Guidance Line® construction for enhanced gait efficiency while providing midfoot structural integrity.
  • Guidance Line®
Vertical flex groove decouples the tooling along the line of progression for enhanced gait efficiency.
  • Heel Clutching System™
Exoskeletal heel counter provides improved support and creates improved heel fitting environment.
  • Discrete Eyelets
Independently placed eyelets disburse lace tension, creating a customized fitting environment and enhanced upper comfort.

Walking and running shoes can get super expensive. Asics sells these Gel-Pursue for $110 which is very competitive with other brands. You can buy directly from their site or look at their store locator to find a store near you where you can try the shoes. This was my first pair of Asics and I know it won’t be my last. When I need another pair, i will be going to them for sure.
