Plantertech, taking speakers to a whole new level

If you know me and you have been to my house, you know I am a love of technology. I love playing with new electronic toys especially things that have to do with phones, computers and music. Plantertech asked if I would take a look at their speakers. Not just a speaker but a plant as well. I definitely wanted to check these out.

Plantertech takes the purpose of an artificial plant to a whole new level. A lot of us have artificial plants around the house, but have you ever thought of combining them with a speaker?  I will have to say, that I had never thought of the concept but I think it’s really cool.

I was sent the grass ledge box. I wasn’t really sure on where I wanted to put it. It’s not a real plant so I don’t have to worry about sunlight, so I decided to put it on my table. Yes, I’m aware that my kitchen table is a strange place for it, but it works. It looks really cool as a center piece and when we are in the kitchen we can use it as a speaker, and when we are using the table we put it on the counter.

Now onto the really cool part. It’s a bluetooth speaker, so no cords needed until you have to charge it up. It doesn’t have a super long battery life at 4 hours, but really, who listens to that many hours at one time? For the charging cord, it doesn’t take a micro USB, but the mini USB. They of course send you a cord in the box, and I also have a ton laying around the house from other devices that still use the mini as well.

The sound is great, it doesn’t get super loud (which I like). We had the speaker on when my Mother in Law came over. She is used to us having bluetooth speakers around the house but couldn’t find the one in the kitchen. She never thought to look at the plant on the table. Once we told her she thought it was such a neat idea.

Plantertech has definitely set the bar for new ways to make speakers. I think it’s awesome and I can’t wait to see what they come up with next. If you don’t like the grass box, don’t worry they have other options, like a ficus tree (which i really really want next), an ivy box, and many more. Check them out to see what would look great in your house.

The only thing I don’t like is that my Vin Diesel won’t stop trying to eat it, so if you have any ideas on how to stop him, i’m all ears. We have tried everything. He is one of the reasons why we don’t have real plants anymore.

I would consider this for a Christmas gift as well. It’s new, innovative and you would look like a genius giving this to a friend or family member. Right now you can buy at Best Buy, The Home Depot, and a few other places. Check out their store locator for a retailer near you.

  1. These are great - I will add though, that the battery life is much longer than 4 hours. I have one at work and it played for 10 hours straight after I unplugged it. Also, it will go as loud as you can make it on the device you have it synced to. I have my ipad synced to it and it get's very loud, without distortion.

  2. I really like this idea. I'd much rather have an artificial plant on my desk then the awkward speakers I have now.

  3. These speakers are used with a home theatre system. They are usually large and the sound quality of these speakers is superb.http://audiogeekhub.com/focusrite-scarlett-6i6-review/
