Say Happy Father’s Day with HelloFresh

A month or so ago I shared about a company called HelloFresh. Well I’m back to talk about them again especially for Father’s Day. This is a great way to get some amazing fresh and new recipes and treat your father, your kid’s father or even a family friend to some amazing meals.

One thing to note is, if you don’t eat meat you can ask for a veggie box, which is nice as well.  I also love that HelloFresh includes their recipes on their sites, just in case you misplace it, OR you want to see what’s in it before you ask for it.

If you want a box weekly you can, and you can also choose between 3 meals for 2 people or 3 meals for 4 people. Cost wise it works out to be around $10 per person, so not bad at all. My personal budget couldn’t do this often as a normal meal, but we can do it as a special occasion

I opted to try three new recipes that I haven’t tried before. I wanted something new and exciting. HelloFresh didn’t disappoint us at all. The first recipe I made was their Prosciutto-Wrapped Chicken Saltimbocca with Garlic-Spinach & Burst Tomatoes.

There were a few steps to making it, and I messed up with the garnish, but it still tasted amazing. My oldest is 12 and she had never had prosciutto before. She doesn’t like bacon at all (gasp!) so she didn’t really want to try it. She was glad she did as she ate the entire piece of chicken. The prosciutto was crispy around the chicken, but the chicken still held all the juices and was very moist.

I will admit that I did leave out the burst tomatoes, but that’s only because I knew nobody would eat them in that form. I did end up using it for something else that we ate.

The second recipe I made was their BBQ-Rubbed Pork Chops with Spicy Plum Relish & Cilantro-Lime Forbidden Rice. I have a few mixed feeling about this recipe. Once cooked and ready, the meal was fantastic. Just a little tip, if you mix the relish with the rice, it makes it even better.

The part that I had the most problem with was all the steps. There are a lot of ingredients and they all work amazingly well together, it was just so time consuming to chop everything up. It would have been nice to have some of that done already like the cilantro. that would be easy to have chopped for us already. Not having those things chopped up is by no means a deal breaker, it would just make prep time faster.

One thing that we could have used more of was the relish. It was really that good. I wouldn’t have thought that a plum and a jalapeno mixed with cilantro would be so fantastic. I will have to make that in the future again for other dishes.

If you like Pan-Seared Salmon, you will love HelloFresh’s take on it. They combine it with a Honeydew Cucumber Salsa & Watercress Salad. To say it was amazing, well that’s an understatement. I could probably do without the sweet potato but my daughters loved that part as did my husband, so since it was a box of food for him, I will go with it.  The crust on the salmon was delicious and it tasted super fresh. You could tell it hadn’t been sitting somewhere for awhile.  Just like the relish from the other dish, I could have eaten the Honeydew-Cucumber Salsa all day.

So, I recommend you checking them out and looking at ordering a box for your family to try out. If you do, please come back and tell me what you thought.
