Strider Balance Bike

Fallon is 2 weeks away from 3 and riding a bike is becoming more and more fun for her. Strider has non conventional bikes that really do teach a kid balance. I was happy to include Strider as part of our Sizzling Summer series.

Since she is almost 3 we got the sport, as it’s a perfect size for her, and one she can still use for a few years. Fallon saw the box and kept saying “oh my new bike, oh my new bike.” She also had to help me put it together, which thankfully is pretty easy. You put the front tire on and handle bar. then you can chose between which seat you want on. It comes with 2 different seats depending on what your child needs for height and seat size. You can pick from 7 different colors like red, green, black, orange and others.

Handlebar
Unique 12.7mm steel handlebar is 43% smaller than standard to allow better control with tiny hands. Custom logo mini-grips are soft urethane with protective ends. Machined-aluminum quick release allows “No Tools” height adjustment from 46-56cm (18-22”).
Wheel
Strider-exclusive, ultralight one-piece wheels sport a raised-letter, five-spoke design with 10 bearing support gussets for maximum strength at the lightest weight possible.
Top-quality sealed cartridge bearings roll smooth and never need adjustment.
Tires
EVA polymer (industrial foam) tires are super light and durable yet offer a smooth ride. Best of all, they never need air and will never go flat.
Seats
The durable, all-weather mini-saddle is designed specifically for beginning riders and their tiny hips. Smaller, narrower, and lighter than a typical saddle, this seat allows for proper riding position and posture. ** The Sport model also includes a padded saddle and long XL seatpost to fit kids over 3 years and allows seat height adjustments up to 48cm (19”).
Bar and seat clamps
Machined aluminum quick release allows “No Tools” saddle height adjustment from 28-41cm (11-16”) for the perfect fit for your child.
Footrest
Unique, frame-integrated footrests are properly positioned directly below the saddle for natural bike balance. This position also fosters the advanced ability to stand while gliding as well as pumping and jumping the bike.
Brake mount
Strider-exclusive rear brake mount allows the addition of a foot-operated brake once the kids are proficiently gliding with feet on the footrests. Brake sold separately.
The Strider bike is very well made and I know it will last for years. They don’t use pedals. It is designed that way, so that the child learning, can learn balance first. I can remember sitting on my bike and just walking it. This does that, and then gives them the confidence to actually ride it. It is a bit strange to imagine, but trust me, it makes sense when you see it in motion.

I love the fact that is is small and she can even ride it around the house too (as long as she doesn’t run anything over).

If you have older children, they can get into the fun of a Strider bike as well. Their line includes bikes for older kids, teenagers and even adults. Their prices ranges vary by what style you are looking at, but most are very affordable. I would recommend checking them out for your family.

  2. I wish I knew about these Strider Bikes about a year ago, when my nephew was eager to ride his tricycle! He would push the bike while straddling the bike, and kept hitting his feet on the pedals! This would have been an excellent advancement tool!!!
