Philips Avent Double Electric Breast Pump Review (Giveaway Too!)

After unsuccessfully breastfeeding twice before (quit after 8 days and then 2 months), I decided with my newest little bundle that she would get colostrum at the hospital and then exclusively formula at home. While we did do that, the princess decided she had other ideas, and was very attached to breastfeeding. However, my body still did not produce properly, and we had to supplement. The princess now breastfeeds on demand, and receives formula for about 50% off her nutrition. I do not use a pump very frequently, but I do need one about once a week while I work because things can get rather uncomfortable without it.

I recently received the Philips Avent Double Electric Breast Pump, and I love this thing! It is really easy to use, and allows you to kick your feet up and relax while pumping. Unlike other pumps, there is no need to sit leaning forward for this pump to work. You can simply relax, pump and get the job done. This pump is super easy to assemble, and even me, who is pump naive put it together properly and effectively used it on the first shot! There really are a minimal number of parts, and you never have to worry about your milk coming in contact with the unit and all of the parts, with the exception of electrical parts are dishwasher safe! This pump was truly made with the ease of a busy mommy at the forefront of their thoughts!

The pump comes with lots of neat extras along with the base unit:

  •  Breast pad samples
  •  Tubing
  •  Natural bottle 4oz
  •  Soft Newborn Flow Nipple
  • Cushion
  • Travel bag
  • 1 pair of Comfort breast pads
  • 1 pair of Night breast pads
My thoughts on this pump are that it is pretty simple but pretty amazing just the same. While I do not have a lot of experience with other pumps I do know I was very comfortable using it. While this little tiny bit of pumped milk does not look like much to many moms, for a mom who struggles to produce, it is like liquid gold, and I am so happy to be able to relax at work for those 15 minutes of pumping, and bring it home to the princess.  At around $199, the Philips Avent Double Electric Breast Pump is an affordable yet incredibly effective pump for the working mom, or a mom who just needs to pump to empty or stimulate more milk. It comes with many appealing extras as well.

  2. I really love that you can lean back with this one. I feel like it's so uncomfortable to be sitting leaning forward to pump. I think it's one of my favorite features of this pump!
