Little Tikes Go Green Playhouse

Spring is here and it’s that time to buy the new outdoor playhouses and games for your kids. We are blessed and recently were sent the new Go Green Playhouse from Little Tikes. I didn’t tell my 3 year old in advance, I wanted to see her excitement when it arrived. She was so excited. Not only that, but luckily it arrived on a day that my husband had off work, so she convinced him to put it together that day.

It does not come already assembled as it’s a really big playhouse, but the instructions are easy to follow and within an hour they were done and Fallon could start playing.

The Go Green Playhouse, is not your ordinary playhouse. It has so many more features than I thought:

Features:

 • Recycling center with removable bins
 • Water reservoir leading to a rain barrel
 • Mail box (mail not included)
 • Solar powered light
 • Skylight
 • Working shutter, dutch door and doorbell
 • Small roof section can be filled with soil to grow grass (like a green roof)
 • Planting box where kids can really grow flowers and vegetables
 • Real working sink, water comes from rain barrel

If you are like me, you are reading all these features and are overwhelmed. I know I was, but in a good way. We haven’t planted the grass yet on the roof (yes the roof!) or planted anything in the planing box, but trust me, we will soon and when it grows we will be posting the pics of them.

The feature that Fallon likes the most is the sink. It really works. When it rains, the water barrel catches the water and you can use the spigot at the bottom or use the sink to fill the watering can. The bad part about living in the desert is that it doesn’t rain often. So to help out we add some water from the house.

Included in the box besides the playhouse of course are:

1-Shovel
1-Hand "rake"
1-Play cell phone
1-Watering can

From a parent's standpoint, I love how well made this playhouse is. It’s not only a fun toy but can also teach kids about solar power (the light above the mailbox), gardening, or planting flowers etc. I love how it mixes fun and learning. The price point is a little higher than I normally spend on toys, but Little Tikes does such a great job, that it’s worth it. I can tell this will last for years. For us, we will pass it along to another child once Fallon is too big for it, but if I had other children I would continue to use it for them for many years.

You can of course order online from Little Tikes, or you can buy from retailers like Toys R Us. You can find retailers on their store locator. I’m pretty sure any kid will love this and the best part it’s for kids 2 and up!

  91. I think that this is a great example of a teaching toy while the child plays. The rain barrel and water conservation, a garden to sustain the family and a lesson on nutrition, the solar light leads to a discussion on while solar power is becoming a better way to power items instead of electricity, why do we plant on the rooftops in some locations, recycling even with the water...the list goes on and on. It is definitely worth the price for all the teaching moments it can lead into. Me and the kids plant a garden every year but how wonderful to let the kids have their own garden and be in charge of taking care of it whether it's veggies or flowers. I do wish the house was a little larger. It doesn't look like it would hold more than one small child at a time and they all should at least accomodate two.
