2017 Kia Sorento is a Perfect Family Car

My kids and I flew to WI the last few days of May, and we needed a car to drive around and do all our adventures in. Kia was very generous and loaned us a 2017 fully loaded Kia Sorento until the end of June. As soon as it was delivered my oldest daughter and I jumped in and took it for a ride. It didn’t take long for both of us to fall in love with it. To the point where she asked if we could just keep this and trade my current car in. To be honest I like the way she thinks.

The first trip we took it on was a couple hours away from my mom’s. We spent a weekend at the Great Wolf Lodge in Wisconsin Dells. We had 3 kids in back (my 2 and my best friend Dan’s son), and then Dan driving with me as a passenger. Even with 5 people in the car, nobody was squished. All the kids had enough arm room and better yet, nobody argued! That could have been the whole "we are going to a huge water park resort thing" too, but I’ll take what I can get.

One of our favorite features is lane departure warning and the warning if a car is too close when in cruise control. Lane departure will ding at you if you move out of the lines. Of course it’s not foolproof as some roads are different and especially during construction, but for the most part it was right on. The other part is when you have cruise control on you can set it to automatically apply the brakes if a car is 1, 2 or 3 car lengths between you (you set it to which one you prefer). Once the car is no longer in that zone, the Kia will speed back up for you. The first few times it startled us as we knew it was coming but not at the same time. The feature is awesome and I wish I had it on my car!

Being a tech geek, I loved that I could plug my iPhone in and use my own maps and such via apple car play. You can also listen to your Pandora station etc.  If you don’t have this feature, you must, it’s awesome. There were only a few times I didn’t use it the entire month.

Between the Great Wolf Lodge, driving around the Dells, and going on a duck ride, the Kia was perfect for the fun weekend road trip.

Being a mom of kids with a lot of stuff, the trunk is always used. My current car doesn’t have a button to close it for me (I miss that button). The Kia Sorento makes it so easy, one touch and the trunk closes. No more, pulling it down and making sure it shuts.

Friends and I did a few trips to nearby towns that are bigger (more shopping options). Then the kids and I did another trip to Minocqua to visit my dad. We spent the day out on the boat, eating, stayed at another awesome resort, ate more (life just revolves around food) and headed home. Since that overnight trip was just the girls and I there was a lot more room. My oldest took advantage of being in the front seat, slept and even in the WI summer humidity, turned the seat warmers on.

This loaded Kia Sorento screams bells and whistles. Between the Bluetooth, rear camera, panoramic sunroof, apple carplay, heated seats, wifi, floorboard rails (perfect for kids), and more. Seriously, the list goes on and on. This was the perfect car for us with all the running around we were doing during our month-long vacation. It’s been 2 weeks since I have driven it and I miss it. I’m seriously considering trading in my current car as this one has everything I want and more. The base price starts at about $25,000 and goes up based on what packages you want.

Not only is the Sorento amazing but it also earned IIHS Top safety pic + award  AND NHTSA overall 5-star safety rating for 2017! Props to Kia for making an incredibly safe car. I know driving and being a passenger, I never had worries.

  27. It sounds like a very modern and safe car for a family! We have finally made up our minds and bought an Audi S4 break. We hesitated a lot because it was pricey compared to others, but my hubby wanted this brand since so long (10 years), so the heck, and we got it, LOL.
