Vegetable Soup and Cold and Cough Relief

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Safeway.

Cold season is here. Both my kids have already had one cold, and unfortunately, I know it won’t be the last one. Luckily one of my favorite grocery stores in Northern Arizona area, Safeway, carries its exclusive line of effective and affordable cold and flu products called Signature Care™.

Now, don’t worry if you don’t have Safeway near you. You can find the Signature Care line exclusively at Albertsons Companies family of stores like: Albertsons, ACME Markets, Jewel-Osco, Vons, Pavilions, Randalls, Tom Thumb, Shaw’s, Star Market, United Supermarkets, Market Street, Albertsons Market and Carrs/Safeway.

For my family and I, when we get colds it really hits our throats hard. That’s when I give them the Signature Care Cough Drops Honey Lemon, as it really soothes. I have a 14 year old who doesn’t like super strong-tasting cough drops, so these are perfect. I don’t have to fight her on taking them, so it’s a mom win for me.

Signature Care products provide the same quality and relief that national name brands do, but at a better value. Signature Care products contain the same active ingredients & use the same manufacturing standards mandated by the FDA for the national brands. Other products include:

  • Signature Care Cold & Flu Liquid Daytime and Nighttime
  • Signature Care Cough Drops Honey Lemon
  • Signature Care Cold Medicine Nighttime Cherry
  • Signature Care Nasal Decongestant Tablets
  • Signature Care Cold/Flu Softgels Day/Night Combo Pack
  • Signature Care Cold/Flu Relief Softgels Daytime
They are all pharmacist recommended and they even come with a 100% satisfaction guaranteed or your money back promise.

Now I’m sure when you or your little ones get sick they want something besides medicine to help them feel better. My oldest is vegan so I make a vegetable soup (even my 5 year old LOVES it). It’s super easy to make and with Safeway’s O Organics® line, it’s very affordable.
What’s great about this recipe is that you can use frozen veggies, or fresh as well. O Organics has a great selection in the product dept. You can also use whatever veggies you like. If the recipe I have below has something you don’t like, simply don’t include it and or swap it out for something else.

Ingredients:
  • 2 boxes of O Organics vegetable broth
  • 4 Bouillon cubes
  • 2 big tablespoons of Herbes de Provence- Secret ingredient (no, not secret anymore)
  • O Organics 20 oz. of tomato herb pasta sauce
  • Cherry tomatoes (optional)
  • O Organics carrots
  • O Organics Celery, chop up as much as you want
  • 2 boxes of vegetable broth - liquid
  • O Organics Potatoes
  • ½ medium onion
  • Cauliflower
  • Bag of frozen broccoli
  • Bag of frozen green beans
  • 1- 2 cans of black beans or kidney beans or both
  • Salt & Pepper

Directions:
  1. In a big pot add broth, bouillon cubes, pasta sauce, Herbes de Provence and bring to a simmer
  2. While it simmers, cut up the raw veggies, and add to the pot
  3. Once raw veggies are softened start adding the bags of frozen veggies along with the black/kidney beans.
  4. A whole can or 2 of black beans or kidney beans or both
  5. Bring to a medium heat and cook about 20-30 minutes.
  6. Add salt and pepper to taste.
ENJOY

Like I said, all vegetables you can swap out for others if you want. This is a great soup that can be made for just about anyone’s taste. Safeway had everything I needed for my big pot of soup.

  2. Soup always hits the spot when I am sick. I like to make it ahead of time and freeze so I don't make it when I don't feel good!

  3. I didn't know safeway had all those grocery products! I remember going to safeway when I visited Seattle but I rarely see it in Texas! Also, soup is perfect for cold weathers.
