The Story for Kids, NIrV: Discover the Bible from Beginning to End

"Adventure. Humor. Drama. Now kids can discover God’s great love story in a new format! As you read, you will uncover the “big picture.” Kids will find out that God’s story is not just a collection of random adventures—it’s a complete story that tells about God’s great love for his people. Using the New International Reader’s Version (NIrV) of the Bible, The Story for Kids reads like a novel. Events, characters, and teachings are arranged in order to show God’s unfolding story. Kids will love reading the greatest story ever told!

The Story for Kids is a unique edition of the New International Reader’s Version (NIrV) of the Bible done in story format to parallel the adult and teen editions of the church-wide campaign, The Story."

This book is perfectly appropriate for my  8 year old son. It definitely is not a book for the younger ones because there are very little pictures and reads more like a chapter book. It definitely keeps my older son interested though because it does read more like a story and not so much like that bible, which can be a little too much for the younger ones to handle. My son has very much enjoyed reading this, and has learned a lot from it. He can go into lengthy explanations about biblical characters after reading this, and enjoys talking about them!

Hope in a Box for Mom

Lord, I wait for you;
you will answer, Lord my God.

Hope in a Box for Mom is an item I just received for review and love so much! It is perfect for the Christian mom who likes to snuggle up in a warm and cozy blanket and drink some hot chocolate or coffee! This box also includes beautiful note cards with bible versus written on them. The blanket is inspirational in and of itself, and along with the cards and cup makes the perfect gift package for the cuddler in your life of faith!

I just love my gift pack. The coffee cup is the perfect size. Not overly big, that the coffee gets cold, but not too small either. The beautiful brown cross note cards are perfect to drop friends a line, and so much nicer than sending emails. The blanket is incredibly soft and comfy, and just perfect for the upcoming winter days ahead! H.O.P.E. (Hang On Pray Everyday) has impressed me in the past with a backpack and tee for my son, and this gift package is definitely no different!

They also offer several other Hope in a Box packages that are perfect for so many in your life! These make the perfect gift for those you love, or for those struggling through a hard point in their life! I highly recommend this company and this brand for their awesome faith-based items!

Get Ready for Back to School with H.O.P.E: Hang on, Pray Everyday!

Romans 12:12
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

We are a pretty church going family so when I had the opportunity to review an awesome Christian company called H.O.P.E I jumped at the chance! We received an awesome quality youth t-shirt which has the wonderful Romans 12:12 written on the back and also the sling pack.

The t-shirt is truly made of awesome quality and fits my son perfectly. He absolutely loves wearing it to church on Wednesday nights when things are a bit more casual and I love reading the beautiful verse on the back as a reminder of what I need to be. This shirt is offered in sizes youth medium to adult XXL and is affordable at only $12.99.

The sling backpack is a smaller pack, but it is perfect for him going to summer camp this summer. It is just the right size for his lunchbox, and a change of clothes! It's also available for a very affordable $14.99 price point and is a very sturdy backpack!

Breaker's Reef by Terri Blackstock

Like all Terri Blackstock novels, Breaker's Reef is a great suspenseful novel that keeps you on the edge of your chair. What I love about this novel and all Terri Blackstock novels is even though it is Christian based, there are other themes in the book, like a murder investigation. This is the perfect novel for Christians who love crime stories, but do not like the seedy background, sex scenes and language of other similar novels that are not by a Christian author.

The Beginner's Bible: Come Celebrate Easter

Easter will be here before you know it, so I was thrilled to receive The Beginner's Bible Come Celebrate Easter. This book is an excellent educational book that takes children from the time that Jesus entered Jerusalem to when he returned to Heaven.

The Easter story comes to life through age-appropriate puzzles, activity pages, and stickers in this friendly and fun The Beginner’s Bible Easter Sticker and Activity Book featuring classic art and simply written content from The Beginner’s Bible.

This book is easy for children to comprehend and for early readers to read on their own. The stickers are an added bonus in the book and makes it a bit more fun! The activities are fun and age appropriate and both of my boys have enjoyed working on this book together (they are ages 2 and 7.) While this book is only sixteen pages and can be done pretty quickly by most children, it is still a fun activity book with word searches, color by number activities, handwriting exercises, mazes and very shirt stories. At less than $4 with free shipping with amazon prime, this is an excellent choice for Easter Baskets this year!

It Will Be Okay by Lysa TerKeurst

So, my oldest little boy is highly gifted. Something you may or may not know about highly gifted children is they can be very extreme. Their emotions are from one end to the other, and sometimes, even though the understand at a much higher level, emotionally they are immature. This is very true of my son. His anxiety "of the week" is about growing up and how he wants to stay a kid forever. It is so hard to teach someone about faith, but I am doing my absolute best with it but thought I might could use a little help.

It Will Be Okay by Lysa TerKeurst is an awesome tool for teaching my little man about faith. This book focuses on a little seed and a fox. The two are best of friends and both are scared of what life has to bring and about change. This is a perfect message for my little man who is terrified of change. Even though he did cry when I was reading it, it was obvious that the message that God will always be there for you, and will get you through whatever struggles you may face, was really sinking in.

The Duck Commander Faith and Family Bible

"The stars of the hit TV show Duck Dynasty are committed to upholding five core values both on and off the screen: faith, family, fellowship, forgiveness, and freedom. The Duck Commander® Faith and Family Bible features new stories and testimonials by Phil, the Robertson family patriarch, and his son Al, a pastor with more than 22 years of experience. Together they offer fresh wisdom on biblical values and how everyday people can apply them to their lives. Powered by relentless dedication to sharing the gospel and celebrating Christ’s kingdom, the Robertson family has become influential to contemporary evangelism and discipleship. The Duck Commander® Faith and Family Bible unleashes the power of their practical insight into critical faith issues, founded on God’s Word."

My Mom loves watching Duck Dynasty and has even convinced me to tune it! I have to admit that the show offer wonderful values for families!  I have even began to enjoy the show myself and have gained a few giggles from it. Even my seven year old has tuned in and began to watch it with me. Even though I was hesitant to watch the show I eventually liked it.

The Duck Commander Bible is absolutely wonderful! It is a Full King James Version Bible but also adds welcome notes from Phil and Al. There are articles in it from the top 25 most searched topics on Bible Gateway. There is even testimonials available in the bible! The content in this bible is very Bible centered, but also gives you a few giggles from the testimonials of the Robertson family. While originally, I did not understand the hype about a bible that has the "Duck Dynasty" thing, I have come to really enjoy this book. It is not only a full King James bible but it is also  a devotional built into one. This is going to make an awesome Christmas gift for my Mom!

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from Book Look Bloggers. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. The Legend of St. Nicholas is an Inspirational, Traditional Christmas Book!

It is almost Christmas-time, so that means times to sit around, drink hot cocoa and read books with my boys! Well, at least in my mind that is what we will do. We will probably all crowd on the bed, elbowing each other while reading it, in reality! Ahh, you understand what I mean, the thought of reading Christmas books with their kids makes even the biggest Scrooge nostalgic!

In The Legend of St. Nicholas, the new artwork, created by Marley and Me illustrator, Richard Cowdrey, captivates audiences and tells the story of a young man named Nicholas, who was moved by the plight of the poor and needy. Nicholas spent his life secretly helping the poor all over the world, giving gifts on Christmas Eve to remind people of the greatest Gift of all, Jesus Christ. This gentle Christmas book introduces the original St. Nicholas and offers inspiration for readers to become cheerful givers themselves. The final pages in the book include fun Father Christmas traditions in other lands.

Will Pharaoh finally let God’s people go? This level 2 I Can Read! book is designed for newly independent readers and is based on the Adventure Bible—the #1 Bible for kids!"

Adventure Bible for Toddlers

My 20-month old is busy, busy, busy and not much holds his attention for very long! That being said, reading and religion are two very important things to me, and things I want him to grow up focusing on. When I received the Adventure Bible for Toddlers I was very impressed with it! It is a board book material, so his wiggly little hands will not rip the pages out, and it is also very bright and colorful! These colors do manage to hold his attention a little longer than other books have! I also love that each story is kept very short, so we can read one and let him down to run around in circles before we do another bible story.

Adventure Bible: God's Great Creation

Adventure Bible: God's Great Creation is just an awesome book! My son is seven and this book is pretty easy for him to read! It flows really well, and covers Genesis and God creating Earth. It is a very bright and colorful book that keeps little ones interested in it!

Jesus: Get to Know Series

"Jesus - part of the Get to Know series - is a unique biography about Jesus, the son of God. Focusing on the life and character of this Biblical hero, using color photographs, maps, and other visual resources to tell the whole story, young biography fans will come to learn more about this man of the God and the role he plays in history. Featuring a bibliography and scriptural references throughout, this is sure to become a favorite for young readers and for first book reports."

As I mentioned in my Get to Know Mary Review. This book is an excellent resource for my seven year old son. He loves to read it by himself at bedtime and ask questions afterwards. We often look at the maps and photos together and talk and explore more about Jesus and his life. Even though Jesus is taught and explored in every Christian curriculum, this book adds a different perspective of the Son of God. It also really opens up a lot of conversation between me and my son. We cannot wait until my younger son is old enough to understand and share our bedtime routine with us!!

Get to know About Mary

My son loves his night time bible stories! We started the routine with many of the books we received from the BookLook Blogger Review program, and Mary from the Get to Know Series is no different! This wonderful book is perfect for my little man and I to read together at bedtime to explore this wonderful woman more than what is usually explored in other books.

"Chosen by God, Mary was more than the mother of Jesus. She was a hero of the Bible. She said “Yes!” to God. Learn about Mary and her exciting place in history. Discover what it was like to grow up in Israel and be a part of Jesus’ life on earth. Mary - part of the Get to Know series - will teach you everything you need to know about this young woman whom God used to do great things!"
