Serious issues with our home..

I will not get into the particulars of what we are facing, just because you never know what might come of all of this, and after all this is the internet. However, I do want you all to know why I may be scarce at times. Our house is exhibiting all the signs of a chinese drywall house. Though, I am not in the hardest hit area....south Florida, I am in north Florida. We had a inspector come out yesterday, and it is looking very probable that we are dealing with the same issues that they are in south Florida. If this is the case we will be forced to leave our home and completely start over. I wanted to say thank you so much to Karen at Frugal Mom of two girls who posted about her own problems with the chinese drywall and made me realize that our problems were extremely similiar. If not, I might have went on oblivious to the issues that we were having with our health and our home. So ladies (and the rare gentleman reader I might have), hang in there with me. I will definitely keep you all updated on all of our findings.

  1. Karen - I have a "Facts and Fears" presentation I occassionally update that I can make available. I also have a group of homeowners who assist each other (and me!) by sharing information on CDW. If you or any of your readers would like to be included in the emailing of info, contact me at Karen@Asset-A-M.com. Also, I would be interested in knowing where in North Florida you are.

  3. OMGoodness, I am so sorry to hear that you are "possibly" having problems with chinese drywall. That problem is not just in Florida. The states with a moist air condition will feel the effects sooner than if the drywall was, say, shipped here to Wyoming where we are a drier climate.
No matter where, central nervous conditions and breathing problems scare the ba-hooey out of me.
May the Lord hold you tight in his arms and protect you and yours from the effects of this.
    Sincerly,
    Marj M.

  4. Oh, Paige, I'm soooo sorry!!! I know how terrible that stuff is and what it can do to you. I hope you, Jim, and Lil Man are going to be o.k. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you don't have to completely leave your home, that can be so difficult, especially on a little one. Let me know if there is anything I can do -- I'm not THAT far from you, a few hours.

  5. I just recently heard about the problem with chinese drywall and I even used to be in the Real Estate industry until my son was born 2 years ago.
I am so sorry to hear that you all are feeling sick, and I hope you find a solution quickly. Moving is a fairly quick fix, if you can afford to move, that is. Good luck and best wishes.
I know you do not know me well, but we are close to you, so feel free to shoot me an email if you need anything!
