My son has been Thomas OBSESSED since he was 15 months old. His Dad bought him a Thomas and Friends book that year…and that was all it took. We have since tried out what seems like every single Thomas product known to man. Little man has well over 100 trains, and counting. I’m telling you…Thomas is an addiction in our house.
One of the most frustrating things to little man in those early days was his inability to keep the tracks together. His little tiny hands would accidently mess them up, and he could not get them back together. As much as he loved to play with his trains, we had many tantrums over the tracks. It finally got to the point that we just had to get a train rug..and let him pretend they were on tracks. We took the real tracks away for close to a year!

One of the designers of Thomas and Friends must have been listening to this complaint though, because recently they have created the Early Engineers line! It is especially made for those little Thomas fanatics that are 18 months and older. This would have been perfect for little man.
What is super cool about the Early Engineer line is that the wooden tracks all fit into a molded layout so everything stays in place. The trains are also a little larger than the normal wooden trains, and this is great for those smaller, clumsier hands. Even better, is that these tracks are completely compatible with all of the other wooden tracks, so that when your child is ready for more of a track challenge you just take off the molds and you can get more creative with the designs.
We decided to surprise little man with theThomas Wooden Railway Early Engineers Roundabout Station Set. He came home from preschool and it was laid out for him. You can see the joy in his face. He loves it! Even though he is bigger now, and better able to navigate the tracks..he is still thrilled with this set. He does not have a “washdown” with any of his other sets…and he absolutely loves that he has one now!


Listen ladies. I know Thomas and Friends. I can tell you just about every character that has ever been. I know the fantastic quality of these products..ours get baths and play in the mud….and they still last. If you have a little one that is showing interest in Thomas, check out the Early Engineer play sets! As a matter of a fact, we are definitely buying this set for our two year old nephew that is just showing a love for Thomas! It makes a perfect Christmas gift!
