Citrus Lane Toddler Box Review: February

I LOVE subscription boxes. LOVE. My absolute favorite thing is coming home to a box of fun. So, although, I know Paige reviewed her Citrus Lane Baby Box a few weeks back, I wanted to share my Citrus Lane Toddler Box from February. I know, it's a couple weeks late, but I wanted to share anyhow, so you can compare the two types and see the difference between the Baby Box and the Toddler Box.

The boxes consist of items great that are chosen by moms for moms and kids up to age five. They just added the increased age option last month, so this is GREAT for you mamas of older preschoolers!  Citrus Lane boxes are $25 per month, but there are always coupon codes around online and you get discounts for signing up for multi-month packages.

Recently, they have moved away from their "themed" boxes, which I was quite worried about. I ended up getting a duplicate item in my January box, but customer service remedied that immediately- they credited my account to go towards my February box.

So here's what we got for February:

Citrus Lane February Review from The Nurse Mommy

Citrus Lane February Sea Otters BookSea Animals from Chronicle Books

by Amy Ericksen
USD $6.99
What they say: Introduce your mini marine biologist to the mysteries of the ocean with this beautifully illustrated board book. Using simple and informative text they'll learn about everything from sea otters and sea turtles to whales, sharks and dolphins.
(even comes with a 20% off discount code for purchasing more books from the publisher!)

What I say: Love this book. We're in the process of teaching Nugget about animals and naming them, so she's totally into this. Now, granted, most things are all "fish" but that's okay- it's a process! What's totally adorable? Two of my nephews are in town, and E, a 6 year old, sat down and read her this book tonight before bed. :) Talk about melting mamas heart!

Citrus Lane February train whistleTrain Whistle from Hohner Kids

USD: $8.00
What they say: Next stop? Play time! Get on board for some whistle-blowing fun with Hohner Kids' train whistle. It sounds just like a traditional wooden version, but it's safer and easier to play. Made from lightweight plastic in pleasing bright hues. Although it's recommended for older tots for developmental reasons, rest assured it's safe to use now with adult supervision. All Aboard!
What I say: It is recommended for kids 24mo+; however, Nugget likes this toy. She has started to figure out how to use it and is tooting her train horn. The toy comes with little train songs for "cognitive connections", too- which are kind of cute. My only concern is that this is made with plastic and the website doesn't specify if it is BPA-free or Phthalate free. I'm going to contact customer service for an answer, so I'll update when I receive a response.
Edited to add response from Horner Kids:
"YES, it is BPA and Phthalate free.  All of our Hohner Kids instruments are BPA and Phthalate free."
Good to know :)

Citrus Lane February Buddy WipesLittle Buddy Wipes from Me4Kidz

USD $2.49
What they say: With flu season in full swing, add this pack of antibacterial wipes to your diaper-bag arsenal for on-the-go cleaning of messy faces, grimy hands, and even small scrapes. Infused with fresh cucumber and tea-tree scent that kids love, the wipes kill 99% of gerns without the sting of alcohol.

What I say: These wipes are great. They are a perfect size, smell amazing (unlike most wipes) and are the perfect thickness. I used them over a spot on my hand that had a scratch that's a little tender (and open), to see if their "no sting" claim actually worked- it did. :) I have no problem using these for Nugget.

Tooth Gen from Branam

USD $5.69
What they say:Keep those pearly whites sparkling from the start with this tooth gel, free from fluoride, SLS and saccharin. Developed by a pediatric dentist and recommended by dentists, pediatricians and pharmacists, the gel contains Xylitol, which is clinically proven to reduce cavity-causing bacteria and is safe to swallow. Perfect for 6 months - 4 years or when the first tooth emerges.
What I say: Well, Nugget and I have been at odds lately with her tooth brushing. Some days, she's all for it. Others, it's back to the tooth tissues when she's asleep. They post their ingredient list on their website, that alone lets me feel safer as a parent, as though they have nothing to hide. Now, two of their ingredients are questionable- the Potassium Sorbate and the Titanium Dioxide. But the Potassium Sorbate, I am betting, is included in an effort to prevent yeast growth. The Titanium Dioxide, that one I'm sure was used as a color additive, but is that really necessary? Especially in young children that may swallow the toothpaste? Especially with concerns that it could be a carcinogen in high doses? We'll try it, but I'll be extra cautious to make sure Nugget doesn't swallow the toothpaste.
Ingredients: Purified Water, Xylitol (30%), Cellulose Gum, Stevia Rebaudiana Leaf/Stem Extract, Flavor, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Citrate, Citric Acid, Mica, Titanium Dioxide

Discovery Toner from Pangea Organics

USD $26.00
What they Say: Treat yourself to Pangea Organics pampering products, because just like motherhood, skincare is a balancing act. Their Discovery Toner brings balance to skin by removing trace impurities while refining pores. The toner delivers targeted herbal extracts to soothe and rejuvenate. Plus, you'll feel good knowing that their products are always nurturing, handcrafted, organic, fair trade and cruelty-free.
(Also comes with a 20% off code good through end of march)
What I say: I received the Italian Green Mandarin with Sweet Lime Facial Toner in my box. Their website says it's good for normal to combination skin, so I figured I'd give it a try. It doesn't sting like most toners and has a really pleasant smell without being overpowering. Though I was excited to get a full size product for myself, I really do enjoy the "best" item in the box to be for Nugget.

All in all, this month's box was pretty good. Some definite wins and some new favorites.
