Sensory Goods Stomp & Catch Review & Giveaway!
by:
Jamie
I am pretty sure that I have posted a little about my oldest son who has sensory issues. But incase you missed it I will give you a little background. He is almost 6 now (eeek! How did that happen?) and he has ADHD and SPD. Sensory Processing Disorder was his first diagnosis and we started to understand him more once we found out he had it. I read books and internet articles trying to find a way to understand it and help him. He was put into Occupational Therapy to help with his issues. His gross motor skills are very delayed. The kid can't walk backwards without falling or hop on one foot. I felt horrible when I was asked if he could do these things and I said 'I don't know....I've never asked him to do it.' And of course he couldn't. Since then our lives have been a whirlwind of therapist appointments and meltdowns. But we are hanging in there and even though some of his sensory stuff seems to only be getting worse with age, we understand why he does it now. This is why when I found Sensory Goods I was so happy. I am always trying to find stuff to do with both of my boys at home to help them with their struggles. We were lucky enough to receive the Stomp and Catch Kit. This is such a great activity to use with ANY kid. Both of my boys thought that it was so much fun.
The Stomp and Catch Kit comes with 2 sturdy boards. One has 3 holes at the end to place balls and the other has 1 hole and is smaller. Right now we are still working with the small board. This activity is great for the hand-eye coordination and working some leg muscles. My son has really horrible hand-eye coordination. As well as very low muscle tone. So to say that this has been helpful would be an understatement. This has been awesome for us. I am so hoping that this improves his coordination. He also thinks that it is fun. A lot of therapy activities seem like work to him. At first therapy was fun because it was all new but he has figured out that doing bear crawls now is hard work. And getting him to comply to doing therapy at home is a bit challenging. I have had on problems getting him to participate when I have gotten out the Stomp and Catch Boards though. He is begging to go first and then his little brother wants to give it a go too. I am so thankful to Sensory Goods for allowing us to review this awesome kit. And not only is it awesome but it is very affordable. You can buy the kit for $39 on their website. I am currently in school and my goal is to finish my bachelors and go onto to get a Masters in Occupational Therapy. So this is going to be used for many years.
Sensory Goods is giving one of you lucky readers a Stomp and Catch Kit for your very own! Please use the Rafflecopter to enter this giveaway.
