NextStep Baby Monitor

Baby monitors are a pretty essential thing these days for a nursery. It used to be just listening but now it’s a whole new ballgame. I was working with NextStep Baby Monitors on something else when they agreed to doing a review on one of their monitors and a giveaway. To say I was excited would be a huge understatement.

First this isn’t a normal baby monitor. It’s a camera and you use an app or your PC to watch the baby. Once I received the monitor NextStep had a member of their customer service department call me to help me get it hooked up to my wifi. They walked me though step by step on how to get it up and working. It was some of the best customer service I have ever come across. 

Once it was up, it was ready to use. There is an app to download if you want it on your ipad, or smart phone. Once it’s downloaded you can watch from anywhere. If you are worried about privacy, don’t worry. Someone would have to have all three things to get access: 1- the IP address for the camera, 2- your username and 3- your password. Without those things nobody can see anything.

I love this camera. I was at an appointment and Fallon was home taking a nap with a family member watching her for me. I was able to turn the app on and check on her. I use it every day when she’s taking her naps to check on her to see if the cry is a “I’m awake and want out” cry or a “I’m still sleeping but needed to cry” cry. Saves on walking into the room and possibly waking her up.

A few things about the camera:

• DVR- Use the recording feature to make cute videos and there are NO fees to record. With my iphone it saves right to my video/camera roll
• Night vision- see in the dark so you don’t have to go in and check on the baby
• Listen & talk back- you can listen to what’s going on and actually talk back
• Motion alert- you can set it to alert you when sound is detected.
• Tilt and pan- you can tilt and pan the room to get it in the perfect position and to move it around if you need to see more.
• Capture- take pictures and videos straight from your phone.
