Vicks FilterFree Cool Mist Humidifier and Braun Thermometer, Win the Starry Night Humidifier!

Vicks Filter Free Cool Mist Humidifier
I was recently contacted to review the Vicks Filter Free Cool Mist Humidifier, and it could not have come at a better time!! The  day we received this we were a few days in of a nasty cold that my son and I had. He had it especially bad and even missed 3 days of school! His cough was just TERRIBLE!

"The Vicks Filter Free Cool Mist provides soothing, visible mist for temporary relief of cough and congestion for better breathing and a more comfortable sleep. Designed for low maintenance operation, this unit requires no filters and is ultra quiet."
This Humidifier available at the cold and flu shop is super quiet and you can control the amount of vapors it puts out. It came with one sample scent pad but there is an option of placing two in the machine for maximum scent. I used the one the first night, and it smelled really nice then I actually placed a little doTERRA Breathe on a cotton bad and diffused it using the Vicks Cool Mist Humidifier and loved the results. My six year old said the bedroom smelled so nice, and I definitely felt like I could breath easier with the cool mist!  The tank is clear so you can easily monitor how much water is available and it holds 1.2 gallons which lasts for many many hours. We still had plenty left after using it for the night.

Braun Forehead Thermometer
My little man also ran a fever for a total of five days with his cold, so I definitely had the chance to try out the Braun Forehead Thermometer available at Toys R Us. Being a pediatric nurse, I actually own two other brands of forehead or temporal thermometers. One is kept at work, but the other I have here so I was able to compare results to see accuracy of the Braun Thermometer. Each thermometer was about exactly right, with a .2 degree difference on occasion. I definitely consider both reliable, and this is definitely the way you want to take the temperature of a squirmy child or baby. Having them place a thermometer under their tongue for an extended period or even under the arm can be daunting...and we will not even talk about rectal temperatures!! Yes, as a nurse I do know rectal temperatures are most accurate, however, a forehead thermometer gives you an indication of whether or not you need to take a rectal temperature. It has a very large easy to read screen that lights up, so it is perfect for those middle of the night checks! Overall, I love it!

The cold and flu season is here folks! Have the necessary items ready for when it strikes your home. Sometimes all you need is a good thermometer, a humidifier, Vick's Vapor Rub and for me, great essential oils too!

Win It:  We are offering one lucky winner the Pink Starry Night Cool Moisture Humidifier. This cute machine functions just like the Filter Free Cool Mist Humidifier I reviewed above but also put beautiful twinkling stars on the ceiling. You child will breath better with the cool mist, and relax more watching the stars in the "nights sky." Retail value approx $55.

My 5 year old is worse than my 2 year old but right now, they always cough in the middle of the night at around 2 am and I have to give their inhaler to them. They both always throw up clear, white sticky mucous and the doctor said it's allergies.
