Do you have little ones that have issues eating
fruits and veggies? I was asked by Copy-Kids to take a look at their DVD that
gets kids ages 6 months to 5 years to eat better. My youngest eats really well
but I still wanted to check it out.
When you first load it you get to choose which
veggie or fruit you want to look at. From there they show different children
eating that food item. The purpose is to get your child to copy the screen and
eat. Our kids do what they see more than they do what we say so to me it is a
great concept. This pic is from the video
Copy-kids Avocado |
“The genesis for the
project came when Cai Dixon noticed her young daughter was more willing to try
new fruits and vegetables when she saw another child eating them. Bella liked
to copy. Dixon wondered if the experience had to be live, or if a video of children
eating fruits and vegetables would also work? “It did, and not just with
Bella,” recalls Dixon. And so a concept was born: Find children who LOVE to eat
fruits and veggies, film them eating them – and make the video available to
parents. It’s that simple. Says Dixon, “I never would have expected my child to
eat raw broccoli – but she demanded it as soon as she saw another child eating
it on TV. Now it is one of her favorite vegetables.”
Copy-Kids Carrots |
Fallon watched with me. We started with her favorite
avocado. She saw kids eating it and knew what it was so we had to get the avocado
out for her to eat as well. She definitely watched the kids eat and tried to
copy and do the same thing. We then moved onto carrots. Fallon only has 4 teeth
so it is a little harder for her to eat carrots but she tries.
I loved that there are many veggies and fruits to choose from and that each chapter isn’t very long so that your little one will keep paying attention.
The chapters are:
- Bell peppers
- Cucumbers
- Carrots
- Avocados
- Tomatoes
- Broccoli
- Oranges
- Bananas
- Raspberries
- Strawberries
- Apples
- Blueberries
I definitely recommend this movie to any parents
that have fussy eaters at home.

I have a child who has major food aversion. I like that this would get him comfortable seeing new foods.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter will not eat anything new so this would be a blessing!
ReplyDeleteSo often, we put so much effort into getting our children to learn good habits, that we forget that they are children, over-think things, and make it all harder than it ever needed to be. The concept of children mimicking other children is so simple it is brilliant! My nephew needs this video. He has undergone pretty much non-stop cancer treatment for Neuroblastoma since last January, and will be in treatment until this March. He is now 2 1/2 years old. He is doing well, but has not eaten a decent meal for over a year now. The various treatments and their side effects basically left him without an appetite, or unable to keep food down, and he has been on parental nutrition almost the entire time. There have been occasions that he actually would try to eat, but never enough, he was very picky. Throughout this past year, his interaction with children has been next to zero, except for his twin nieces, who he worships and mimics. I know that if he saw this video he would want to do what the other kids do.
