Nestle- Holiday treats

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.
I don’t know about you, but if I buy any type of holiday candy too soon, it’s gone well before that holiday arrives. I was asked by Nestle aka Wonka to try out some of their new Christmas candy. I knew I had to say yes, not only for me but also for my oldest daughter.

I received 2 things, on a candy cane shaped container with pixy sticks inside (Mya squeeled when she saw those), and Sweetart holiday gummies in the shape of starts, trees and snowmen.

Of course Mya had to try them first, which is ok by me. Saves me from eating the entire bag by myself (shamefully lowers head). I told her I had to at least try a little bit of them for this review. The first flavor was grape as it’s one of my favorites. I remember why as a kid I loved pixy sticks, they are so yummy. Pure sugar I know, but still yummy. It’s ok once in a while to sludge.  Next I tried the Sweetarts and they were so good.

I started thinking right away what I could use them for besides just eating plain of course. This is the first Christmas/ New Years that I will be able to drink. I have either been pregnant, nursing the past few years to partake in some “adult beverage” fun.

I looked at the pixi stick and thought, “I could use this in a cute fruity drink”. So I set my plan into motion. unfortunately my cupboards only had a few items to choose from when it came to alcohol, so that meant I got to go shopping. I was thinking of a martini. So that meant that I needed some type of sour mix. After talking with a few people this is what we came up with:

Ingredients:

  • 1oz Vodka (your choice of brand)
  • 4oz sour mix
  • ½ oz sour island Punch pucker
  • 1 oz sour grape pucker
  • 1 splash sprite (optional)
  • 1 pixy stick
  • cherry (optinal)

Instructions:

Use part of the pixy stick to stick to the rim of the martini glass (optional). Take all the ingredients except for the sprite and pixy stick and put into a cocktail shaker. Strain into the glass, then add the sprite if you want to and top with a little bit of the remaining pixy stick. Throw in a cherry if you want. Then do the best part; enjoy.

Martinis can hit you fast so if you are at a party, have someone drive for you. Have fun, but be safe.
