We all have apps galore on our phones, but how many
of them are actually educational vs. just for fun? I have card games, board games you name it,
and I probably have it. I have been trying to be more aware of what I download
especially if I’m going to have my kids look at it. With my little one, I definitely
want interaction with apps so she can learn.
My oldest is 11, and into reading books. I was asked to review the Rainforest Musical Kakamega app I don’t have anything like that so I wanted to check it
out.
The first thing I thought was, ok it’s a book app
and a music app? I’m confused, but as soon as I opened it up, it made
sense. “This
is a story told by text and speech. Not only does this book have a complete
musical score, but it also has a message to pass on to your children. In the
book you follow the adventure of two young members of the Kakamega tribe, who
find a sick city boy and will try to help him get better by finding a magical
flower with healing properties.”
I really like this as I can use it
for both my kids, one being 11 and the other 20 months. My oldest can read and
understand the music while when I share with the toddler I can read to her and
she can listen to the music.
The initial part of the app is
free. To unlock the other chapters it only costs $1.99. That’s not bad at all.
Most of the time on itunes $1.99 only gets you one song. This way you get all
the songs plus all the chapters. I personally think it’s a great deal.
I recommend you download the app
today and have story time with your kids. It is designed for both the iphone
and ipad.
