I participated in a campaign on behalf
of Mom CentralConsulting #MC for Sprint. I received a product sample to facilitate
my review and to thank me for participating.
My 11 year old has been wanting a cell
phone so bad (like most her age). I don’t mind her having one, but also wasn’t
sure which one would be best. Luckily we are able to try out multiple Sprint
phones to see. It also gives us a chance to see how responsible she is at using
one.
She was so excited the day the phone
came. We received the HTC One M8 Harman/Kardon edition. Not only did we receive the phone but we also
received a Harmon Kardon Onyx Bluetooth speaker.
The first thing we noticed about the
phone is the huge screen size. It has a 5 inch full HD 1080p display. It’s a
little heavier than some but not a big deal. It’s an android phone and the
operating system is Android 4.4. Once we got the phone up, we got her all
signed into her email, facebook and games that she loves to play. The phone is
super easy to use and navigate. Since we live in a little bubble that doesn’t
get great service, we have had a booster since we moved into our new house.
With the booster, our service is great. We have unlimited data, but since we
use Wi-fi at home it really doesn’t matter. Since the day she got it she has
been texting her friends and us. I do have to say, it is handy when she goes
someplace without us, that we can still reach her.
When I went to put her micro SD card in,
I noticed that I had to use a pin to get the fake place holder out and then
insert the SD card. If I want to take it out for any reason, I will have to use
a pin go get it out as well. Luckily I wouldn’t be taking it out very often,
but do find it a little troublesome, especially if we are out and about and
need it for something. Not a huge deal, but if it were a push type, that you
just push it in and it pops out would be a lot easier. That would be the only
thing I would really change on this phone, otherwise I would recommend it to
people.
Sprint has a new feature, or it is new
to us. It’s called Spotify. It is a music streaming service. You can do the
free version or premium. The free version allows you to listen on mobile,
tablet and computer. There are ads with the free version. The premium is $9.99
and allows you to play any song, anywhere, download music and listen while
offline, with no audio ads and no commitment.
Like I said above, we also received the Harmon
Kardon Onyx Bluetooth speaker. I was more excited about this than Mya was. Not
only is the speaker Bluetooth but it’s also cordless. You can charge it up, and
it has a 5 hour battery or keep it plugged in. The sound is great, clean and
crisp. We have a game room, and this is
a perfect speaker for that. We can play pool, Foosball and other games while
listening to music way better than before.
I went to Sprint’s website and saw that
they are having a special right now with this phone for a limited time.
Purchase this phone the HTC One M8 Harmon/Kardon edition for $0 down on the
Sprint Family plan, try Spotify for 6 months, plus add the Onyx Studio Speaker
for just $99.99. This is a really good deal as they usually sell the speaker
for $399.99!

This really looks so awesome!
ReplyDeleteHTC is a great product!!!
ReplyDeleteThe pin looks tricky but the screen size and features looks really cool.
ReplyDeleteSpotify is an app that's always advertised by 96.3. It's good to try it soon.
ReplyDeleteHTC - my all time favorite. I had Desire C some time back
ReplyDeleteSo nice for you to be a part of this review and isn't it better if you can do this also on youtube.
ReplyDeletesounds like a nice smartphone, I like the full display!
ReplyDeleteI love HTC phones... they are so solid and stylish. One M8 is a masterpiece <3
ReplyDeleteThat is a pretty sweet looking smartphone. My boys had prepaid cellphones at 8 years old and that was 10 years ago. They were used for just incase or emergencies.. But now forget it, they are texting machines.
ReplyDeleteMy phone just died on me so I will need to shop for a new one. Great review!
ReplyDeleteI've heard a lot about this phone and seen some rave reviews. This Sprint plan seems like a really good deal too! I'll be saving up for this one lol
ReplyDeleteWe have also been looking into cell phones for a tween and haven't been able to make a decision. Your post was very helpful by explaining the screen size, specifications of the phone and best of all, the deal Sprint has going on right now. We are definitely going to look into this. Thank You!
ReplyDeleteI would love to have a smartphone. I haven't had a cell phone for about 6 years and a smartphone would be excellent. There are many apps I would like to be able to use while around town or at a store that would be fun, beneficial or would help us save money while shopping. I am hoping my disability claim gets approved soon so maybe I can have an income and be able to afford a smartphone and provider plan.
ReplyDeleteLooks like an awesome phone! Love the new layout and name! I want one of these. I LOVE Spring!
