National Learn To Swim Day is May 17th!

It might be Spring in other parts of the country, but here in Florida, it feels a whole lot like summer! Every summer my oldest little boy takes swimming lessons, but still has not quite caught on. This summer, my baby boy will also be taking lessons. Water safety should be extremely important to anyone that has little ones. You hear of way too many horror stories of toddler who jump in and drown. The thought of this terrifies me, so I do everything I can to prepare them. I was recently introduced to the Swim Steps 2014 from Swimways. This unique three step program allows for children to get acquainted and comfortable in water, allows them to explore the water, and then helps to teach them to swim.

Swim Steps is a three step swim training program for children that provides everything you need to guide your child towards a life-long love of the water from their very first splashes through swimming. Our child swim training aids include baby floatsswim vests, and graduated swim trainers. We also make swimming gogglesswim masks, and kick boards for kids to keep them happy and comfortable in the water. Heading out on the open water? Our Sea Squirts PFD is a U.S. Coast Guard approved life vest for kids that is both safe and fun to wear.

Step 1- "It's my first time in the pool!" Water Introduction:
While it is not my youngest sons first time in the pool, he probably does not remember last summer when we took him in. He is only 15 months so this summer will feels like a new experience for him. The Baby Spring Float Sun Canopy that we received for review is excellent for him. He feels safe and protected in the water, and also from the blazing sun. My little man absolutely loves floating around the pool in his float, and I love how easy it is to fold back up into the storage bag for travel!

Step 2- Water Exploration- "I am ready to paddle and splash!"
While I do not have a child in this stage, Swimways has you covered by offering a swim sweater and a swim best that provides safety and stability new swimmers need!

Step 3- Swim Training "Teach me to swim so we can play together!"
This is the stage where my oldest is. He is somewhat independent in the water, but I by no means feel comfortable with him in the deep end. We received the Sea Squirt Swim Assist Vest. The cool thing about this vest is, parents cane remove the flotation panels according to how much assistance your child needs. Not to mention kids just love the super cool fin design. When we first received this, my son was running around the house pretending to be a shark! He absolutely loves the fin! This super soft and really comfortable vest allows him to achieve the proper posture to become a strong swimmer!
The above item was received by Paige as part of the Swimways ambassador program in order to facilitate the review.
