Baby Alert Baby Heatstroke childminder system

Just a few days ago in Florida a baby died when her dad forgot to take her to the sitter. I know I can sit here and say, wow talk about a bad parent, when in reality he may be a great dad that made the worst mistake of his life. A simple change in routine can change your life forever, and i’m sure it could happen to the best of parents. According to the ggweather.com part of San Fransisco university 44 babies/kids died from being in a hot car in 2013, and so far this year there have been 14. To me even 1 baby dying when it could have been prevented is to many. Baby alert contacted me asking me to try their childMinder system. I never take child safety as a joke so I definitely wanted to check it out.

The basic concept of the SoftClip System is to help remind parents that they didn’t take the baby out of the car seat. Very simple concept, to a very touchy concept.

The ChildMinder SoftClip® is a lifesaving device, that is truly a must have if you have babies to children age 6 in a car safety seat! This savvy system should greatly reduce cases of children inadvertently left alone in vehicles, while fastened in their car seat.
The ChildMinder system reminds drivers with an alarm 8 seconds after the parent or caregiver has moved more than 15 feet from the child in his/her safety seat.

  • The ChildMinder system performs a self-test upon each use to insure its proper functioning.
  • No removal of safety seat harness straps required for installation. replace your child's safety seat chest harness clip with the ChildMinder's New SoftClip and place the key ring alarm unit on your automotive key ring.
  • The ChildMinders Systems will not compromise the safety nor warranty of your Child Restraint System.
I don’t have an infant anymore so she will let me know that she is in the car BUT I can see how things can happen if the routine is different and the child is sleeping. You have to take the battery out the chest piece to activate it. It was a little hard to do but didn't take very long. There is a piece of felt under the battery that when you remove that it activates the piece. The other piece goes onto your key chain.
I found that the ChildMinder System is easy to use and the key chain part wasn't an issue for me.

This video below is showing what it's like for a baby to be in a hot car. A baby can die in under an hour in a hot car. For me if I ever say a baby alone in a vehicle I would call 911 and do everything in my power to get the baby out even if it meant breaking the window.

Yes this device is a little pricey, but it can be worth it. I would rather spend a few extra dollars to ensure that I am doing everything I can to keep my girls safe.

  1. It makes me sick to think about, but I know it is pretty easy to have happen - especially if the baby is sleeping and rear facing.

  2. This is happening so much lately, it truly breaks my heart. If this product helps just one child, it's totally worth it. We all get distracted, and it really could happen to anyone.

  3. I think this is a neat item. Not just for heat stroke either. My son years ago was with his grandparents. He was 13 months old. He fell in the Columbia River on a houseboat. Our son was dead and revived after 20 minutes or so. Our entire family life was changed forever. I don't think letting little ones out of your site at any age is appropriate. Sometimes those mistakes are so horrible with what happens to everyones lives and the anger and guilt that follows.

  42. If you need a device so you don't FORGET your kid in a car you don't deserve to be a parent. There is no excuse and I have no pity on these people who do. If society has gotten to this point something is wrong.

  43. My favorite feature is that it performs a self-test each time you use it.

  44. I really like that you can have multiple clips tied to the same system.
