Ok, so when it comes to food I don’t get overly adventurous, but when it comes to the blog, i’m all up for trying something and telling you guys about it. Neat contacted me asking if I wanted to try their products. Their products are 100% vegetarian, soy free, and gluten free. I had to think about it, but I figured, hey why not.
It’s actually really nice seeing the entire ingredient list, able to say everything and it not be a mile long. in the original mix these are the ingredients: PECANS, GARBANZO BEANS, GLUTEN FREE WHOLE GRAIN OATS, ORGANIC WHOLE GRAIN GLUTEN FREE CORNMEAL, GARLIC, ONION, SEA SALT, SPICES. That’s it, that’s everything.
Knowing my family I added 2 regular eggs (I wouldn’t even know where to buy those), I also added some shredded cheese to the mixture. Then formed a patty and put them on the griddle. Each side only took a few minutes then added cheese to the top on three of them and left one plain for Mya. For everyone but Mya got ketchup and mustard added and a bun.
I knew that if I told them what was in the mix, Mya would say “I don’t like it” so by just saying it was a different kind of burger, that left it open for her to really try it. She said she liked it as did the rest of us. Yes it does have a different taste but not bad in anyway. It doesn’t replace a real meat burger (for me at least) but it is a great option for those who choose not to eat meat at all.
The question of the night before I told them what was in it was: “I have another bag, should I make it again soon?” The answer was YES! So there you have it, they really did like it. I then read to them the ingredient list and asked the same question. They still said yes. I am so proud of Mya to still say yes when I know she doesn’t like pecans.
Besides the original mix they also have Italian, Mexican, and Breakfast. If you are interested in buying they have a store locater on their site. They also have recipes that other people have tried and posted. Very interesting like the meatless Taco w/peach salsa & Guacamole recipe.

I am BIG on burgers. They are pretty much my favorite meal ever, but I would totally give this a try!
ReplyDeleteThis seems interesting. I eat vegan/vegetarian burgers I wonder how these would compare
ReplyDeleteI love finding new and interesting ways to make healthy eating fun and delicious. The days of tasteless tofu blocks are over, I guess!
ReplyDeleteSounds very interesting. Meat replacement is such a great idea but depends solely on taste for me. I tell my family I will try it once then decide so I would love to try this. I do find the flavored Italian fillers are normally good :)
ReplyDeleteI love that this is gluten free. It's so hard to find gluten free meat replacements.
ReplyDeleteSo glad this is a gluten free option. They are really difficult for us to find for my daughter.
ReplyDeleteVery cool. i am sending this over to my mom.
