$25 VISA Gift Card Giveaway provided by Perrigo Nutritionals

I struggled with breastfeeding both of my boys. Many people will read this and call me lazy, or say that women across time fed their kids and we are made for this. Well, I will tell you that simply is NOT true. Some women do not, for whatever reason, produce enough milk. In the "old days" their were wet nurses, or goats milk. That is how children were fed when moms simply could not. I struggled with feelings of "being broken." I did not understand why my body "failed me." Many others moms have went through this, or are going through this. I am here to tell you, do not have guilt over this. The MOST IMPORTANT thing to do is, feed you baby! If that means supplementing, or exclusively using formula, then do it! Many exclusive breastfeeders try to say that you do not BOND as well with your child when you bottle feed. NOT TRUE! One son I breastfed only 8 days (he was NICU baby and really messed with any production) and one I fed for 2 months. I feel equally bonded with my boys. Do not fall into this thinking. You WILL bond regardless of how you feed you baby. Once I made the decision to switch to formula, I had sticker shock. The prices are amazingly expensive!! So, my next guilt-ridden question was, is store brand formula as good as name brand! In my research, I found that YES it is! All brands have to pass extensive testing and must meet standard requirements. I made the switch and my little man never seemed to notice a difference. He never had any stomach issues and we saved a LOT of money.

Perrigo Nutritionals Store Brand Formula’s “Pulse of Pediatricians” Survey Results:

  • A new, nationwide survey of pediatricians looked at the most common questions new moms will ask.  97 percent of pediatricians say feeding is one of the top three categories new moms ask about and  more than half (52 percent) of pediatricians say feeding is the number one topic new moms ask about.
  • “Pooping” questions were second (43 percent of respondents). Sleeping was third (41 percent).
  • The results were based on a nationwide survey of pediatricians conducted by SERMO, the largest online network exclusively for physicians.

  • According to the survey, 71 percent of pediatricians believe all infant formulas are basically the same; the brand doesn’t matter.
  • The American Academy of Pediatrics and other experts agree on the benefits of breastfeeding; these experts also agree that infant formula is a safe, science-supported, nutritious means to nourish babies.
  • Most moms don’t know that the FDA strictly regulates formula to keep little ones safe, so store brand formulas, like Wal-Mart’s Parent’s Choice and Target’s Up & Up, are nutritionally comparable to national brands like Enfamil® and Similac® and meet FDA standards.
  • By switching to store brand formula, a family can save up to $600 per year without compromising quality. Visit www.storebrandformula.com for formula coupons and more information.

When my kids were babies, I would get so worried that they weren't getting enough sleep. And I was frazzled and didn't know if that was ok. Now, later, I know that it's totally normal!
