I have a huge hairy dog, 2 cats, 2 kids and a husband. I’m sure you can imagine the mess they all can create. I have been looking for a heavy duty full size vacuum, and was really excited when Dyson wanted to send me their upright one.
I had actually never seen the DC65 upright in person and was expecting it to be huge and bulky. It’s not small, but definitely not as big as I thought it was going to be. It comes in a few parts to put it together which probably took me a little longer than it really should have.
I love that it has a big canister and is made to handle pet hair and Dyson’s entire range of upright and canister vacuums is the first to earn asthma & allergy friendly™ Certification. Even though nobody in my house is allergic to pet dander, I have family and friends that are and knowing I have a vacuum that will clean my carpet good enough for them means a lot.
My oldest daughter and husband actually fought about who was to use it first. I have a strange family. Our old upright vacuum still works but not the greatest. So when Mya (she won lol) finished the living room, it was very embarrassing on how much it collected. On the bright side, my carpet is very clean now.
After we (sorry, I mean Mya) did the living room, I had her do the staircases as well. I knew there was a lot of dirt and fur along the sides, and yikes I was right. She said it was so easy to pick up and use. For the attachments, all you do is make sure it’s upright, press the gray button and then the on button.
Overall, I really love this vacuum. It has been the easiest vacuum to use, not to mention the ease of emptying the dirt without the use of a bag. Yes it’s a little pricey at around $599 but it also gives you so much for your money, especially when you consider all you get for getting rid of dust mites and your normal everyday dirt that gets on your floor.
I would normally say that appliances and cleaning things don’t make good Christmas presents (reminds me of work that needs to be done). I do know that if some of my friends would get this vacuum for Christmas, they would be overjoyed. So, If your loved one is one of those, I recommend you look into getting one. It truly is an amazing machine.

That sounds like a really great vacuum! I love the look of it.
ReplyDeleteI have wanted one of these for so long! My friend has one and I keep asking hubby but we're waiting on the old one to die first. I am slowly helping it along though!
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting a Dyson for a while now. They sound amazing.
ReplyDeleteWe've killed three Dysons thanks to husky hair - I wonder how this one would measure up!
ReplyDeleteI have the older model of this vacuum. I've been looking into getting the newer version, but not sure about it quite yet.
ReplyDeleteI have owned a Dyson now for about 5 or 6 years, maybe more and it's been great. Since it's older it sounds like it's a little big an heavier than this one but overall I really love it. It works as good as the day I got it. You're right, they are pricey and I don't know that I'll spend that much when it's time, but I give it 5 stars.
ReplyDeleteI have a love/hate relationship with my Dyson. I have problems with it clogging all the time. We have three big dogs and a cat. Yet, when the belt broke, I was miserable without it. I wish you the best of luck with yours.
ReplyDeleteThis will come in handy after the holidays. There will be lots of tinsel and cookie crumbs.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great review! I wish I could afford a Dyson! Luckily I don't have many rugs, so I get by with a sweeper vac. A woman can dream right?
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted a dyson vacuum!
