prepare for taxes with an Epson Portable Scanner

Tax time is upon us. So it’s time to gather all the documents, receipts and everything from last year. One of the best ways to keep everything in one place is to scan then to your computer or a SD card. I was super excited when Epson offered to send me their newest portable scanner to test out.

In the past I would have to sit at my desk, lift up the lid to my scanner and go through a bunch of steps and a ton of time. I have a great all in one printer but it just takes a long time. With the Workforce DS-40 I don’t have to be at my desk. The scanner is small enough it can be right next to me on the couch if I wanted. It can be used with or without a cord or with an SD card.

Before you can use it, you do need to install the software on your computer, but that only takes a few minutes and you are ready to go. Bring up the program, but the document face down and press the scan button. It will bring up a screen as to where you want the document to be saved, once that is done just press ok and the document will start going through. Since the scanner will put it anyplace you want you can designate a folder just for taxes and receipts.

I love the simplicity of this scanner.  Epson has done a really good job. It’s great that you can scan little items like a receipt or even larger full page documents. This comes in handy especially right now with tax season. There are so many recipes that I need to scan. I know my accountant will be happy as I can just hand him a flash drive of everything instead of a huge folder of papers and recipes.

Once I’m done with all my taxes, my next project will be to start scanning pictures. The quality is great. I always think of what could happen. If I scan all my pictures and there is a flood or fire, chances are that they will still be safe, especially since I use a cloud system. I really recommend checking out this printer. Even my mom who isn’t a tech person like me, thought it was really neat and is thinking of getting one. To me it’s worth the money.

  3. I would use it to scan in medical records and bills to make sure my disability claims are kept current. I would also use it to attach any documents or photos that I want or need to email to someone. We had an earlier version where I was employed at a law firm with 500+ lawyers. They were great and I have missed not having access to it. I would love to win!
