Nescafe Dolce Gusto Single Serve Coffee Machine

It’s no secret I like my coffee, but I will admit that I am a coffee snob. No it’s not that I will only like one kind, i just  don’t like regular black.  Being of the “revolutionized coffee” generation, I have had my share of regular and gourmet coffees. My favorite is a good latte. I had asked Nescafe if I could try their Nescafe Dolce Gusto machine as I wanted to make my own lattes and save a little money. I was very happy when they said yes.

Setting it up is super easy as there are really only just a few parts to it. I filled up the reserve water that goes on the back, put on the drip catcher (i’m sure it has a different more official name) and I was ready to go. I was sent a few flavors to try and since one was Mocha, I figured that was a good place to start.

On the top of the box it will tell you which capsul to put in first (the one with coffee and one with the milk). It will also tell you at what level you should put. For example if it has 2 bars you will scroll for 2 bars. Once the first capsule is done then you put the second one it which is usually the milk. I was amazed at how fast it brews the coffee . I mean in under a minute, I have a cup of steaming coffee goodness. I know other machines are fast too but I haven’t seen one this fast. The speed is even more impressive knowing that the machine doesn’t keep the water hot and ready. I can take water straight from the tap and fill the reserve fresh.

The Mocha was nice and rich and adding their milk capsule was just right. You can add your own milk to it after but it won’t be the same. Nescafe has made sure that the milk capsules have the perfect amount for each cup of coffee.

There is not a huge variety of flavors to choose from yet, but still there are plenty. You can get Mocha, Macchiato, cappuccino’s and even chai teas. For a box of 8 they are $9.49, so not bad priced by any means and pretty much on par with other companies selling single serve coffees.

One of the other things I really like about the Nescafe Dolce Gusto machine is that it is small, so it really doesn’t take up much space a all on the counter. So there is no need to have it stored in a cabinet. To store your capsules you can buy holders/carousels. One of them can hold up to 30 at a time. I will definitely be looking at getting one as I have already bought more of their capsules.

There are a few different machines you can choose from. From the Piccolo now on sale for $50 to the Genio (like I have) to their Circolo Automatic which is their newest using technology. Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and I’m sure that your wife/girlfriend/fiance will love you (even more) if you got her one of Nescafe’s coffee machines.
