Baby Merlin's Magic Sleepsuit

Crib transition day crept up on me before I even realized it! I cannot believe my little bitty 6lb baby is now 6 months old and moving out of his rock n play sleeper! I have avoided even thinking about this transition because I figured it would be pretty traumatic for all parties involved. But I have to tell you about a product that I was very skeptical about, but ended up being a life saver. The Baby Merlin's Magic Sleepsuit has changed my life! This suit has made the transition to the crib such a pleasant experience.

Just to give you a little background information about myself, I was a previous co-sleeping mama.  I had a child in my room or bed for the past 7 years.  I just evicted my 5 year old son while I was pregnant in preparation of our youngest. I have vowed to try my best not to end up with another child in my bed. While I was pregnant I was able to sleep without feet in my face or waking up to a bloody lip. I have to admit it was quite nice.  When I thought about transferring my baby to his crib I cringed, because I tried with my older 2 boys and it was awful. They woke up several times through the night and would just cry until I finally caved and brought them in the bed with me.  So when I saw the Baby Merlin's Magic Sleepsuit I was intrigued.  And I was willing to try just about anything to keep the solitude of my bed.

When the suit arrived in the mail I was really giddy! I love trying out products that I have never seen before.  It is so exciting.  This suit is so soft. A friend of mine described it as feeling like a stuffed animal.  It is so squishy and plush.  Add that to my nearly 20 pound baby and that is a lot of squish to hug! I cannot sing the praises of the sleep suit enough! It has changed my life. No really, it has CHANGED MY LIFE.  I have an infant sleeping in his own crib in his own room. It is amazing.  I have never experienced this before, and I totally understand why people do this now. I no longer have to tip toe around him in our room or turn the volume down on the TV in our room.

I will go over some of the features that make this sleep suit different from sleep sacks and other products out on the market today. First, this suit is basically like your baby wearing a blanket, but it is safer because there is no loose bedding.  I admit when he was sleeping in his little rocker thing I wrapped a blanket around his legs because I was so worried that he would get cold.  The Magic Sleepsuit removes this completely. I no longer have to worry about blankets getting up around his face.  I first wondered if the suit would be too hot for him.  But the best indicator is body temperature.  It is recommended to try the suit out at nap time to monitor how your baby does in it.  I started out just putting my little guy in a cotton onesie under the suit.  So far that has been the best thing for us. I do not put any socks or anything on him and he sleeps great in it. I have not see him show the slightest bit of sweat, nor does he feel cold.  This suit also is thick enough to add some weight to your baby, so that their movements are muffled.  This keeps them from startling themselves awake.  I think this feature makes all the difference in the world. My little guy startles pretty easily.  Luckily, this suit has helped keep him sleeping.

The fit of this suit is pretty true to size. I would recommend going by weight and length when ordering, that is how I did it and it was a great fit for my little guy. He has been wearing the suit for about a month now and it is still fitting him nicely.  It is recommended that once your baby can roll over while in the suit to discontinue use. My little man is a little over 6 months and has not achieved this yet, so he is still wearing his Magic Sleepsuit.  I have to give this product credit, I would not have a baby sleeping in the crib without it. Even my husband says this is one of the best baby products we have used.

  1. I would like the yellow sleep suit. That way if the next baby is a boy (this one is going to be a girl) it can be used again.

  6. I'd like the blue one - we have a baby shower coming for one who has not announced what they will have while another is having a blue. I like green as a neutral color better than the yellow.

  9. I like the blue, but since my niece is a girl, her parents would prob not use it for her :-P So,... since I'm not a fan of yellow and cream gets dirty too easily... I guess it would be pink.

  11. I like the yellow also and think this would make a great baby gift. My friend had so many tiny outfits that were outgrown just that quickly. this would be a gift that had a longer usage life and it would give the gift of sleep.
