Summer Boredom Buster: Mason Jar Crafts for Kids

My oldest son and I always spent a lot of time doing arts and crafts time together. It is something we both enjoyed, and even thought he now loves video games much more than that mommy time, he sometimes asks to do projects together when he is feeling the need to feel closer to me. Those are special times for me, and I love creating art together. I recently was sent Mason Jar Crafts for Kids.
Mason jars are no longer just for canning. Today we use them to drink from, to cook inside, and—with almost limitless possibilities—to craft with. In this fabulous new book, Linda Braden, author and owner of MasonJarCraftsLove.com and ItAllStartedWithPaint.com, offers up a collection of fun and creative Mason jar crafts for kids. Her ideas include everything from wild science experiments and delicious edible treats to holiday decor and gifts for the whole family. Kids won’t want to miss the fireworks in a jar or the lava lamp jar projects. And who could resist a Mason jar cupcake or a rainbow Jell-O jar? There are instructions for how to make your own lantern jars, snow globes, and even a Mason jar terrarium. This book will keep little hands busy all year round, with dozens of easy do-it-yourself projects.
I realize that you might be able to most of these crafts on pinterest or the like, but I spend so much time creating material for Top Notch Material that I simply do not have extra time to browse the internet for that. I love having an easy to read book that lists all of the projects we can do together, and spend that much needed bonding time together. One project we have tabbed to work on this summer is a jack o latern jar so we will have it ready just in time for their baby sister making her debut. I am very impressed with the book and the layout and look forward to the project we have ahead of us. The photos are fantastic and very self explanatory.

  1. My kids were always so proud of things they made. I loved to show them off also. My son made a Loon, and it looked so real. He carved it.
