The Alphabet of Bugs: An ABC Book

I have two boys....ALL boys I might say. They love bugs and all things boys do. While my oldest loves bugs on a more academic level...he loves looking at the structure and learning the names, learning if they sting or now, my youngest just loves bugs in any way, shape or form that he can get them! I recently was just lucky enough to receive a book that BOTH of my boys love called The Alphabet of Bugs: An ABC Book

Do you know what a Chrysina resplendens or a Papilionidae butterfly looks like? Travel through the alphabet with The Alphabet of Bugs to learn about the many beautiful and unusually named bugs found in nature—and brush up on those ABCs as well! Valerie Gates’s charming alliterative style paired with Ann Cutting’s stunning photographs of all types of bugs is sure to delight curious children and adults alike.

Children who already know their basic bugs will broaden their horizons, and parents who are tired of simple butterflies and beetles will find this book worth rereading. Spectacular photographs of insects of all kinds will inspire children to learn more about the different creatures found in the natural world. And while children learn about bugs, they are also learning the alphabet through silly sentences. This is an ideal gift for new parents and for young nature-loving children!

I very much enjoy this book because it teaches my younger son his alaphabet in a very fun and vibrant way, and I love looking at the book with my older son because it opens up questions from him, and has me googling the insects and teaching him more about where they come from, and what to look out for. I also found myself sharing funny stories about "screaming cicadas" and started a great conversation with him! I think this book, at less than $12 shipped on prime makes an excellent addition to any little ones library!

  1. My youngest boy loves ants, he picks them up and last summer my 9 yo daughter decided they should catch ants and put them in an empty bubble container. Goodness. My middle child on the other had, who is a boy, hates bugs and has to put his shoes on before going outside because of ants.
