Help Keep Your Dog Healthy With Milk-Bone

My big boy is named House, and I mean big. He’s about 110 or so, but so gentle. Anyway just like most dogs, he loves his treats. Milk-Bone is one of our go to treats for him. When I learned they have some Good Morning treats, I thought it would be perfect. We also just love, and when I say we, I really mean House, love the Milk-Bone Brushing Chews.

Looking to get in shape? Forget joining a gym or seeing a therapist — maybe you should adopt a dog! According to the “Milk-Bone Human-Canine Health Study” — a survey of 2,000 U.S. dog parents conducted by Milk-Bone brand dog treats (in partnership with Learndipity Data Insights) — humans and dogs positively impact the health of one another, from morning routines to physical fitness.

An impressive 45% of dog parents report being “active, fit, and healthy” versus just 29% of non-dog parents. While it's possible dog parents are naturally more active than the general population, there's also a 'puppy eye effect' — namely, that your dog lovingly guilts you (intentionally or otherwise) into getting off the couch more often. 1 out of 3 dog parents report that they wish their dog was more physically active than he is now, and we suspect that, out of obligation to their beloved dogs, people are choosing to be more active than they otherwise would if it were only their wellbeing at stake.

The health benefits won't just show on your waistline though — they'll show in your attitude. 54% of dog parents report “feeling loved” while only 35% of non-dog parents do. (Next time you need a hug, reach for someone furry and four-legged).

All this goes to show that dogs do a ton to make our lives better. As pet parents, don't we owe them the same?

We did some brainstorming as to how we could better help our pups live the good life, and it didn't take long to come up with a certain five-letter word — T-R-E-A-T. What dog doesn't go crazy at the sound of it? Or, at the word W-A-L-K, for that matter. So there you have it: the two best ways to show your pup you heart him back, and make him healthier to boot.

#1: Treats
If you're thinking 'treats aren't going to make my dog healthier,' then you just haven't found the right treats yet. Milk-Bone's Good Morning Vitamins are packed with vital nutrients not found in the majority of dog food brands — and Milk-Bone Brushing Chews clean your pup's teeth as he chows down. They're not just treats; they're treats with benefits. And — a perk for the lazy — you don't have to do anything

#2: Walks
Now for the hard part — the one that requires a bit of commitment on your part as well. Take your dog for a walk! Or head down to your local dog park. (You can even just throw a tennis ball around in your backyard). Milk-Bone pulled together the following list of top doggy exercises:

1. On-leash walks: 74% of dogs like this (or give two paws up). My husband tries to take House for a walk daily.
2. Indoor games (tug of war, pretend fighting, playing with toys, etc.): 64% like this
3. Playing fetch: 57% like this
4. Playing with other dogs (at the dog park, etc.): 40% like this
5. Outdoor activities (hiking, camping, etc.): 32% like this

Which one is your pup's favorite?
