GE Café Brings Family Back Together

In the past the running joke in my family is that I don’t and can’t really cook. Over the past year it has changed to wow, mom can cook, what happened. Honestly, I don’t know what happened. I know that I just all of a sudden wanted to make something instead of waiting for my husband to make it and it turned out really really good.

Having a good kitchen set up is important when you want to create a good meal. Isn’t the kitchen where a lot of us sat watching our parents cook, talking about our day and learning (not me) how to make what they are making? GE Café™ really is the perfect kitchen. This summer we moved across the country, away from our family and friends. With the holidays coming up, we need to come up with new traditions, new memories and not focus on who is not near us. In a way it’s kind of exciting as we get to do something new and fun. We have always tended to be more of a non traditional family. If we don’t have people over of a holiday meal, we tend to not do the turkey with all the fixings, or ham etc.

I personally tend to cook more Mexican/Cuban, as it’s my favorite and my families too. For this holiday season, i’m thinking about starting a new tradition and have each member of my family pick their favorite entree, dessert, appetizer etc, and have it all in one meal. I’m sure it will be memorable and interesting at the same time. You never know what a three year old is going to pick to eat when you say “what do you want to eat?”

When I make my enchiladas, I make my own sauce and having a range that will help make it perfection is worth every penny and that’s what the GE Café™ does. Even though my love for cooking is more or less in the baby/toddler stages, great cookware and appliances like GE Café™ make me want to “Take Food Further” and use the best of the best. I want to use it to make my family go “oh that was good! put that on the make again list.” To me cooking is not just about nursing my family, but creating memories and being proud of something I made.

You never know, maybe my non traditional traditional meal will inspire my daughter to do her own tradition someday. If and when that happens, I will have GE Café™ to thank.  What are your traditions during the holidays or what new traditions do you want to start? .
