My girls are taking after me when it comes to electronics, especially my little one. I love that they have so many great educational toys now. Best Buy is well known for their electronics. Well, now you can find the Dash Robot there from MakeWonder.
To be honest, I wasn’t really sure what Dash could do until I looked into him more. There is so much that he can do, and the more apps MakeWonder come out with, the more possibilities there are.
What comes in the box:
- 1 Dash
- 1 Charging Cord
- 2 Building Brick Connectors
- Getting Started Guide
Dash is designed for kids. Kids haven’t gone to school for coding yet, they don’t know technical terms. What is so cool is that you can use him right out of the box. He can respond to voice, navigating objects, dancing, and singing, and confuse your pets on what the little thing on the floor is that makes sounds and moves (very entertaining I have to say).
From the second we took Dash (now named Robert by my 4 year old), Fallon wanted to have a turn and play with him. She loves using the app Path (you draw the path, you wand Dash to go on, and he will), but most of all she loves Wonder. In the control setting you can make him go all over the place just like you would a remote control car. There are also little buttons to make Robert flash his lights, make sounds or even play a recording. It only allows a few seconds at a time, but you can record multiple about 6 saying and have him play them back.
All 5 apps can be used on android and iOS systems, and are free to download. Each app does something different and if you buy the accessories you can do even more with them like play a Xylophone and create your own songs. The apps are:
- Path
- Xylo
- Blockly
- Wonder
- Go
I say download them all, and see which ones you like best and all the fun ideas you and the kids can come up with.
