Deepwater Horizon Must see Movie

Let’s talk movies. It’s Friday and the best night to go. The newest movie premiering is Deepwater Horizon. I went to the screening a few days ago and was blown away (no pun intended there). You must go see this movie! It’s based on a true story of what happened to the Deepwater Horizon oil rig in 2010.

Kate Hudson and Mark Wahlberg are the main stars in this. I don’t really need to say more than that. I mean that alone will make me go see a movie. I mean, I may or may not secretly be in love with Mark. Anyway…. “On April 20th, 2010, one of the world’s largest man-made disasters occurred on the Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico. Directed by Peter Berg (Lone Survivor), this story honors the brave men and women whose heroism would save many on board, and change everyone’s lives forever.”

This is a drama, so there will be ups and downs. For everything to happen that day, everything had to go wrong. Having it based on a true story and kind of knowing what happened makes you even more on the edge of your seat. You are waiting for something; you know it’s going to happen. There were times where you could hear a pin drop in the theater. Everyone was just sitting there in suspense.

There were some really great one liners in the film that had everyone laughing. The beginning for example (I’m not ruining or spoiling so don’t worry). Sydney (Stella Allen) told her parents that she didn’t interrupt them (you can guess that part) in the morning because she wanted a brother. I have kids, so this to me was hilarious and something they would say, but we wouldn’t want them to. Throughout the film there is a lot of banter back and forth, sarcasm that really is my style.

Once things start to happen of course banter doesn’t have its place. Everyone in my opinion did a great job. Besides Mark and Kate you have Dylan O’Brien, Kurt Russell, Gina Rodriguez, John Malkovich and so many other super talented actors.

There were laughs and there were a lot of tears. If I was home watching it by myself I know I would have cried more, but I was in public so I held it together. I’m sure there wasn’t a dry eye in the entire theater.

Like I said, this is a must see movie in my opinion. If you go see it, please let me know what you thought. Personally, I can’t wait for it to come out on Blu-Ray and digital as I will be the first in line to be buying it.
