Epson XP-640 Printer Makes for a Great Christmas Gift

If you have been a reader of the blog for a while, then you know how much I love technology. One of the products I love are printers. It may seem strange, but I really do love them. It could be, because I take so many pictures and I want to print them right away, and not wait or send them out to be printed. Anyway, I have worked with Epson a few times, and I was so excited when they asked that I take a look at their newest printer, the XP-640.

I don’t recall seeing a printer that has as many features as this one does for less that what Epson prices this at.

By now most of us are used to having an LCD screen on our printers. While it’s an awesome feature, it’s not new. However, that’s only ONE of the features this printer has. I’m only going to list a few, you will have to check out their site for even more.

Fast — lab-quality 4" x 6" photos in as fast as 20 seconds
Ultimate wireless — easy iPad, iPhone, Android tablet and smartphone printing includes Wi-Fi Direct for network-free printing
Share — scan to Facebook and the cloud for easy photo sharing
4" x 6" borderless photo in as fast as 20 seconds
SD Card slot
USB slot (LOVE this feature!)
Prints right on CD/DVD’s (yes you read that right)
So many more…
I probably print more photos from my printers than I do regular paper. I also scan a lot of things. Often, I don’t want to use an SD card, so having the option to use the USB is the best, especially when I can’t find an SD card to save my life. I just had to plug in my flash drive and I was good to go. If you can’t find an SD card or a USB flash drive, then you can scan right to the cloud.  Much like other companies, Epson has utilized an app to help as well. That way you can print directly from your phone (if you haven’t done it yet, you must try it).

Pictures are great quality. I looked at the same picture from the printer and from having it printed for me from a store, and I couldn't tell the difference between the two.

Since there are different trays, it can be a little confusing at first. After a few printings, it gets easier and easier. I think that was the only part that I didn’t get right away. Other than that, I have had no issues with this printer. I do like that they have different ink wells so that when one color gets low, you only have to change that one, and not an entire pack.

This printer can be purchased from Epson’s site directly, or from Target, and Amazon. This would make for a great Christmas present for just about anyone, not just the college kids.
