I know the holidays can be very busy along with the new
year. I grew up in the Midwest where winter time meant being inside most of the
time. It’s so nice living in the desert as my kids can go outside to playanytime and we don’t need to think about the cold temperatures much.
Fallon is 4 and her favorite thing to do is play at the
“Fallon park” which translates to a kid park with slides, swings and other play
toys. She could be there all day long everyday if we let her. She looks forward
to going there everyday, and I don’t mind as it’s good for her. Not only the
outside time, but also for her imagination. Playing is always good for kids,
but playing outside is even better. It’s great for their development and so
much more.
The Voiceof Play is an education and advocacy
initiative of the non-profit membership association, IPEMA. They were formed to
educate and promote the benefits of children’s free outdoor play and
playgrounds. One of the things they do is highlight how kids thrive from
playing.
What is your child’s favorite game to play
outside?

I raised 3 daughters and now I have 3 granddaughters. From experience I can say it is very beneficial to have children play outside. It disconnects them from electronics and gets their imaginations going. I enjoyed taking all of them to various playgrounds for different play equipment and they enjoyed outdoor time and playing team games in the back yard.
