What was your New Year’s resolution? Was it to eat better, workout more, take care of yourself better? Mine was to cook more, and so far, I’m doing very well. I’m always trying to take better care of myself, so that’s nothing new. Skin care is one of those areas that I’m very proactive about. My oldest daughter just turned 14, and I try to show her that skin care is very important especially while young. Right now, Target has some amazing deals on some of the best skincare products. Anyone that knows, me, knows that Target is my happy place. I will take any excuse to go shopping there.

If you are an avid Target shopper like myself, you already have the cartwheel app. If you don’t have it yet, you MUST download it. It will save you money with coupons and so much more. I never take a trip without looking at it first. Please, do me a favor and download it (after you are finished reading this post of course).

Neutrogena, Aveeno and Clean & Clear are all about skincare, and Target really wants you to buy their products from them. They are offering the following deals until the end of March:

  • Neutrogena – Buy 3, get $5 Target gift card (in store only)
  • Aveeno – 5% off on Cartwheel
  • Clean & Clear – 5% off on Cartwheel

My daughter Mya and I took a trip to get the following items:
  • This easy to apply, lightweight facial cleansing gel transforms into a silky lather that effectively lifts away dirt, oil, and makeup without depleting or stripping your skin.
  • The formula leaves skin refreshingly clean and touchably supple.
  • With Hyaluronic acid, a compound found naturally in the skin; it helps replenishes skin’s water reserves.
  • Free of soaps, oil, and parabens, this hydrating cleanser is clinically proven to increase skin’s hydration level and lock it in.
  • Plumps lips making them look smoother & more supple
  • Creates the look of fuller lips
  • Eight shades, non-sticky

Our thoughts: I passed my love for lipsticks, gloss and shines over to Mya. We both loved this one. It’s not sticky like a lot are. There are a lot of colors to choose from, so you can play with more than one look and there is something for everyone. This is something we will be buying more of for sure.

  • 2% salicylic acid acne medication for an invigorating, deep clean
  • Formulated with non-plastic, biodegradable microbeads for a gentle, yet deep clean
  • Gently exfoliates skin, while scrubbing away dirt and oil
  • Gently enough for daily use and all skin types

Mya’s thoughts: Mya has very sensitive skin, especially on her face, so we were a little leery of using it, but wanted to give it a try. You never know when one thing doesn’t work a different one might. Like most teenage girls, she has acne, and breakouts more during certain times of the month than others. Clean and Clear uses 3 ways to fight those breakouts. It removes the pore clogging oils, and treats the breakout while soothing the skin (that's where the aloe and mint come into play).

It’s very important that she washes all her makeup off every night and then washes her face again in the morning. Since she has been using the other product at night, I have her using this in the morning, and I love it.

  • A quick facial you can do in the shower 1-2 times a week to give dull, tired-looking skin a boost.
  • Active Naturals Total Soy Complex helps to even skin tone and texture and Lemon Peel
  • Extract to purify skin
  • The product works with the steam of the shower to open pores and exfoliates all traces
  • of dirt, oil and dead skin cells, while accelerating surface cell renewal
  • It also gently exfoliates skin with glycolic acid and biodegradable, naturally derived exfoliants
  • Non-comedogenic, hypoallergenic, oil free and dermatologist tested

This is a product that you don’t use daily, it’s meant for only 1-2 times a week max. Think of it like a special occasion type of thing but a little more often. The plus side, is you don’t have to keep it on for 10+ minutes like others. It’s on for 60 seconds max (like the name says) and you are good to go. I am loving it and plan to buy more in the future.

Overall, we have LOVED all 4 of the products we tried and will be going back for more and trying others that Target has for us. Make sure you head to Target before the end of March to get these deals, and don’t forget to download the Cartwheel app (I’m pretty sure you will love it). It’s a good excuse to go shopping with your daughter(s) and get a little girl time in.

  3. Staring skin care at a young age is so important. You are wise to help your daughter learn this. I started using Oil of Olay at 16. I'm 67 now, and have very few wrinkles that are obvious.
