Spent the Weekend at Great Wolf Lodge and Had a Blast

Recently my girls, best friend and his son had a great opportunity to hosted at The Great Wolf Lodge in Wisconsin Dells, WI for a weekend. I don’t think it was possible that we had more fun.

Let me digress for a second. My girls and I live in AZ, but were back home visiting family and friends in WI. So, a weekend in the Dells was a great way to kick off our trip. Not to mention, it was my best friend Dan’s Birthday weekend.

We checked in on Friday afternoon and the second we opened the room door, all three kids were squealing with glee. We didn’t just have any hotel room. We had a loft family suite with a fireplace and balcony. To break that down, the regular area had a full bathroom, 2 queen beds, and a TV. Then the living room which had a pull-out couch, fireplace, the balcony and a TV. Then you go up the stairs for the loft which had another TV and a vanity with a sink. Since my oldest is 14 and as most teens like their privacy, we gave her the loft. Fallon, my 4 year old and I took one queen bed, and Dan and his 9 year old son took the other.

Once everyone was settled they headed out to the park to get a few rides in. Since It was a little later, it was only a few hours before dinner time. Plus we knew Saturday would be full of fun.

If you have kids that love the extra things at resorts, I highly suggest looking at the Paw Pass and the Pup Pass.

All three of the kids received the Paw Pass so they could all do the same things otherwise I may have had Fallon do the Pup Pass.

We started Saturday morning out with a fun family style breakfast right in the resort restaurant. It set off the day to a great tone. Since everyone was still dry we decided to do the MagiQuest. I’ll be honest, I really didn’t know what it was, but Canon seemed to know and all three kids were excited about it, so it worked for us. In the words of MagiQuest themselves it is “MagiQuest is an interactive live-action, role playing game where players embark on quests and adventures in an enchanted fantasy world using real magic wands to solve the mysteries of the game.”

Even though this is considered technology, I don’t think of it as that. I think of it as hours of imagination filled entertainment that the kids had. Plus all three got together and helped each other. I mean, I don’t think I heard a he did this, she did that (they spend a lot of time together). It was so much fun, both Dan and I kind of wished we had wands of our own to play too.

After that we hit the water parks again only stopping for lunch (which we got inside the park so we didn’t have to go anywhere). Seeing as all three kids are ages 4, 9 and 14, they are into different things when it comes to rides. Fallon is a little more scared and liked to stay in the kiddie area, but did eventually go down a little slide (still proud of her for that). Canon loved the rides with his dad and couldn’t go down a few of them enough. Mya was  little timid, but once she got going on rides, she had fun. After a few hours of that, everyone was tired and ready for a break. We headed up to the room and ordered pizza to be delivered to our room from the resort.

One of the things the resort does that I think is amazing, is have a nightly itinerary for the kids including story time,  The Great Clock Tower Show, and then a PJ party to let the kids get that last little bit of energy out in a dance party. Fallon and Canon LOVED IT.

Sunday we started with another super yummy family breakfast, did the last of the items on the Paw Pass like candy, build the animal, engraved leather bracelet and a great time at the arcade etc. Then packed up, checked out, but didn’t leave. We headed back down to the water park for a couple more hours of fun before heading back home.

Once we were done in the water the kids got their glitter tattoo and we indulged on one more big treat. This bucket of ice cream is even better than it looks. It’s also much larger than one plans for. All of us ate (minus Mya as she doesn’t like chocolate) and we still only had half. They put ice cream at the base then brownie chunks and cookies, then another huge layer of ice cream with more brownies and cookies, topped with a mountain of whipped cream, and you guessed it more brownies, cookies and a few gummy bears. Sugar overload but Dan had been eyeing it up and it was his bday weekend so why not right?

Overall, I can’t say anything bad about our experience at The Great Wolf Lodge in Wisconsin Dells, WI. They took great care of us. There was nothing that we needed that they couldn’t get us. The entire staff was friendly and we honestly can’t wait to go back. I’m hoping we get back to WI over Christmas and may be staying again then. Nothing like indoor water parks during the WI cold.
