I love to cook, however I don’t love to grocery shop. Being that i’m one disabled and two, a single mother, I don’t like to spend my time and energy at the grocery store. I do however, love to give my kids good food. When I first heard about companies that took the shopping and prep out of cooking, I thought it was a genius idea. Recently, I tried a new company (well to me at least) called Gobble.
Gobble seriously takes the bulk of the work away. This way you can look forward to cooking, and not the work that comes before it. It’s very simple, you chose how many meals you want and for how many people. Then you can tell Gobble what you like to eat like beef, pork, shellfish etc, or if you are vegetarian you can select that as well. After that you select your delivery date and continue with the prompts.
Gobble has a section where you can see past menu items, and also upcoming menus that way you can select the week accordingly based on what you see. They also have sides and desserts, so don’t forget about those.
All the meals are labeled and bagged together unless there is meat, then the meat is in it’s on bag. Gobble couldn’t make it easier. The recipe cards tell you exactly what you need to do step by step. Besides needing cooking utensils and a stove for some items, they give you everything you need food wise. It’s great that you don’t have to do any measuring, you just put each packet in or container. The only time I had to portion was for the green onions and that’s because I used half in cooking and the other half in garnish. I was able to cook a gourmet meal in under 30 mins. If I were to do it by myself without Gobble it would have taken way longer.
Here are the meals that we received:
Meal 1:
Paneer & Cauliflower Tikka Masala with Garam Masala Basmati Rice
Spicy Moroccan Lentil & Sweet Potato Soup
Vietnamese Salad with Cashews & Chili-Lime Vinaigrette
The first meal I made was for my oldest who is Vegan. Now, part of the meal did have dairy products, so I took those out so it would fit her needs. She absolutely loved the cauliflower and the salad. She liked the soup, but it was a little too hot for her personal taste.
Meal 2:
Bistro Filet au Poivre with Demi-Glace & Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes
Baked Conchiglie Mac & Cheese
This meal was my favorite and also my 5 year olds favorite. Everything was perfect. I did cook the filets longer than suggested, but that’s only because I like my mean very very well done. This one took the longest of the three meals, but it also had the most components too. Even though it was the longest, it was still under 30 minutes. I think the best part were the snap peas. They tasted so fresh, like I just picked them from my garden.
Meal 3:
Chinese Chicken Lettuce Cups with Brown Rice
Roasted Red Bell Pepper Bisque with Garlic Croutons & Goat Cheese
Peanut Butter Cookie Dough
I love lettuce cups when we go out at a Chinese place. So it was fun to recreate them. Only Fallon and I ate this meal as well, so there were leftovers. I only tore off a few of the lettuce leaves and saved the rest for later. This was great, as I didn’t have to worry about the lettuce getting soggy. For the soup, it was amazing. Fallon actually had more of it than I did. Adding the Goat Cheese and croutons offset the little bit of spice that went with it. To top it off, we had some cookies. They are already formed, so all you have to do is pop them in the oven and wait long enough for them to cool.
Overall, I loved this Gobble box. I love how everything is already measured for you, labeled and ready to cook. The only thing I wish it came with was someone to do the dishes for me. The price is a little higher than some other boxes, but you are also getting fresh and prime food. To me it is well worth the money. Check it out, and if you order a box, let me know what you think.

ReplyDeleteI love this idea! The Bistro Filet au Poivre looks especially delicious and I love how everything included in the Gobble Gourmet box is pre-packaged and easy to prepare. The older I get I find the less I like to shop for groceries and cook. It takes too much of my time that could be spent doing things I really enjoy. Now that it's just my hubby and I at home, already prepared meals just make sense!
