Bottle 2 Pen from Pilot made from recycled pastic

So I was trying to explain Earth Day to my youngest Fallon, who is 5, when I realized I knew what it was but not really in depth. I decided to look it up and really learn more. Per Earthday.org “The idea for a national day to focus on the environment came to Earth Day founder Gaylord Nelson, then a U.S. Senator from Wisconsin, after witnessing the ravages of the 1969 massive oil spill in Santa Barbara, California. Inspired by the student anti-war movement, he realized that if he could infuse that energy with an emerging public consciousness about air and water pollution, it would force environmental protection onto the national political agenda. Senator Nelson announced the idea for a “national teach-in on the environment” to the national media; persuaded Pete McCloskey, a conservation-minded Republican Congressman, to serve as his co-chair; and recruited Denis Hayes from Harvard as national coordinator. Hayes built a national staff of 85 to promote events across the land. April 22, falling between Spring Break and Final Exams, was selected as the date.” They go way more into detail and it’s actually pretty interesting. I have much more respect seeing companies like Pilot taking initiative to really make a difference in our planet.

Pilot found that about 2.5 million plastic bottles enter landfills every hour in the United States, and makes up about 50% of all recyclable waste. That’s a lot of plastic bottles. They then created the Bottle-2-Pen (B2P) is the first of it’s kind. It’s made from recycled bottles and are 100% refillable which means even less waste goes into the landfills.

  •   World’s first pens made from recycled bottles
  •   Made from 89% post-consumer recycled plastic bottles
  •   Vibrant G2 gel ink for smooth, effortless writing
  •   Retractable
  •   Refillable for added sustainability

You can buy the B2B pens in multi packs from black ink to pink, green, purple and more. They make the B2B in 0.7mm fine and 1.0mm medium points. Just because they are using recycled material doesn’t mean they skimped on quality. You still get the smooth writing that you get from their other ball point pens.

Next time you are shopping for pens (I swear they go missing faster than socks and hair ties), you need to check these out. Pilot makes them available on their site as well.

  1. Hubby bought these for me and I’ve been using B2P pens 0.7 fine point for several months. I really like how smoothly they write. I have them in black and in blue inks. I didn’t know that they come in packs of other colors AND I didn’t know that I could get refills for them. I’ll be visiting their website. I think it’s great when products are made from recycled materials.
