We had a full summer schedule, some plans we did, some
were canceled and some were changed. Despite the craziness we had a great time.
One of the plans was to go to northern WI and spend the weekend on the lake
with my siblings. We had to change it and decided to spend the weekend in Minneapolis
instead. We were lucky and Kia supplied me with a 2019 Sorento to use for a
week. To say this car is awesome is an understatement. When they picked it up, I
kid you not, my 6 year old said “bye car, I’ll never see you again”. I guess
she really loved it too.
My 15 year old was the only kid home when the car was
delivered so, what do we do? We do “errands” aka go get ice cream from the
farm.
I have 2 children and by boyfriend has 1, so when we are
all together, we need something with a lot of room. The Sorento has a 3rd
row which makes it perfect. This worked out perfectly as last min I needed to
go pick up my sister from the train station an hour away and we were all
together. That 3rd row came in handy and fit our needs.
Even though all 3 kids (ages 6, 10 and 15) would fit in
the second row, we decided to keep the 3rd row up as Canon wanted to
sit back there to have a little more room. We got all packed up and headed out
for our weekend adventure at Mall of America. If you want to read about that
part of the trip check out that post.
It’s a few hour drive and surprisingly enough with 5
people we only stopped once for gas/bathroom break.
We made it safe to Minneapolis and checked into the hotel
(Best Western Plus) which was across the street and had an amazing pool for the
kids. Seeing as they are all spread out in ages it was great to see it had
something for everyone. We spent most of the evening at the pool until it was
dinner time then bed to rest up for a full 2 days at the mall.
The next 2 days was full of fun and a lot of food, and I mean
a ton of food. We were sad it had to end and we had to head home. We shopped so
much that I don’t think we could have fit anything more in it, and the car has
a lot of space.
Before I had to turn the car back in, we took one more
trip (just an hour away), to visit my grandma who is in a nursing home. We
haven’t seen her since moving back to Wisconsin, so I had to take advantage of
having an awesome car. It was a great visit and im so glad we did.
Last year I drove a 2017 Sorento and loved it, but the
2019 is even better. One awesome feature is a small one but really cool. When it’s
raining and you turn on the wipers that’s all you have to do. You don’t have to
keep turning off and on or keeping it on high. There is a sensor that will
sense the moisture on the windshield and turn on for you. Even when it was just
sprinkling and a semi drove past and splashed us, the wiper auto went on and cleaned
it off.
I loved the navigation system as then we didn’t have to
use our phones. I do wish they allowed you to enter in an address while the car
is running. I understand the safety, but if a passenger could enter it, it
would be a huge help. I’m pretty sure it’s a safety thing for most cars. Definitely
something I can overlook and deal with.
The cameras are something that I really miss having in my
personal car and loved that you get a 360 view which comes in handy when parallel
parking and just backing up in general, especially out of my driveway.

There are so
many features it’s hard to narrow it down to my favorite few, but one is the
lane assist. It’s almost like the car is driving itself. If you deviate just a
little from the white line it alerts you. It also tells you when you are getting
too close to another car or a car is getting to close to you.
Check out Kia’s
site for more details on the 2019 Sorento, for pricing and to find one near
you. I highly recommend you take one for a test drive to see if it’s a great
fit for your family.
