Dying Easter Eggs and a snack from Voortman Cookies

Even though we are in the middle of our lockdown due to Covid-19 I want to make time for some Easter activities for the kiddos. Of course, that includes decorating Easter eggs. That’s a tradition we can’t leave out. With the help of my friends at Voortman Cookies the kids had a blast dying eggs and having a snack at the same time.

There are so many different ways to dye eggs. You can get kits or do it yourself. There really is no wrong way. You really only need a few ingredients.

Materials

eggs
Water
Vinegar
Food coloring (gel if you want more vibrant colors). You can even use cups from past kits.
Accessories like stickers, crayons, glitter etc
Cups

Directions for boiled eggs

In a medium pot cover eggs with water
Bring water to a rolling boil
Turn off heat and put cover on, and leave on for about 15 mins (leave on the burner)

Take off stove and add cold water to pot, strain and continue to run cold water over eggs to end the cooking. You can add to an ice bath if you want as well. Remove once cool and you are ready to decorate.

Dying eggs

I always lay down paper towel or paper shopping bags down to help with any mess that may happen.

Put about 5oz of warm water in a cup, place dye into each up and stir to mix in. then 2 tablespoons of vinegar and stir.

Decorate egg and submerge into the color you want for up to 30 seconds. Remove from up and place in egg carton to dry.

Make sure you eat the eggs within 5 days. And have fun!!!

Like any activity that takes some time, you need a snack break. Voortman cookies are perfect for a snack. They are a cookie I don’t have to feel guilty about giving to the kids. Take the Coconut ones for example. They are made with real coconut which is awesome and with 20% less net carbs than regular cookies. Since they are made real coconut and you can taste it. I love that about this company. They care about what goes into their products. Not only that, they are also made with no artificial colors, no artificial flavors, and no high-fructose corn syrup. This is really important to Voortman.

When you are out getting your groceries for Easter, make sure you are safe and maybe pick up a package of Voortman Cookies. They come in other flavors.

Do you have a favorite Easter activity? I’d love to hear about it.
