Our Lunar New Year Children's Book

“The beauty of the world lies in the diversity of its people.” – Unknown

Do you ever think about how other countries celebrate holidays? In our house we celebrate the New Year by staying up late, eating way too much food, usually having a few friends over and watching the ball drop in Time Square at midnight. We have a ton of fun, but what do other countries do?

Our Lunar New Year is the perfect book to talk about New Years and cultures. It particular talks about the Asian communities and their Lunar New Year thanks to Yobe Qui.

The Asian community covers so many that I think so many of us forget that as we think as accustom to January first as New Years Day. That’s not the case for many other countries.

The Lunar New Year in Korea is called Seollal. Each year, it’s named after an animal. Family members will wear special clothes they call hanbok. They also will travel to visit their family, and when they do so, they will give the family a sweet rice cookie. The family will gather around and eat a special meal together as well.

Fallon loves learning about new things especially cultures, and this book is full of a bunch of different cultures. That yearn for knowledge makes a book like Our Lunar New Year perfect for a kiddo like Fallon.

Head over to Amazon to order your copy as I’m sure your little one will love it as well.

Yobe Also has a new book coming out called "Our Moon Festival". Right now it is free in ebook form, but only for a few days, so make sure you grab it while it’s hot.

It’s a super cute book about how the Japanese, Vietnamese, and Chinese communities celebrate the Moon Festival. Yobe is currently running a Kickstarter for the book. If you are able to help, please check it out and contribute. I know she would be entirely grateful if you could.
