The Best Oil for Your Car is Havoline PRO-RS

I’m the type of girl who needs a reminder to change her oil even with the sticker right on my window. I don’t always know the right products to buy either, but I ask my very trusted mechanic and when he says to get Havoline® PRO-RSTM Renewable Full Synthetic Motor Oil, I get Havoline PRO-RS. My daughter’s boyfriend Zarvan is studying to be a mechanic so I asked him to change my oil for me, and he was more than happy to help (I may have promised to babysit the babies in return for the help).

I have a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica so the right oil for me is Havoline® PRO-RS Renewable Synthetic Motor Oil 0W-20, which I got online from Walmart. If you don’t have someone like Zarvan to help you change your oil, you can always buy it and take it to your local quick lube service or mechanic and have them use it when they change your oil. I know my quick lube service and mechanic would not have an issue with using the oil I brought in.

The first thing I noticed is that this oil isn’t in bottles like I am used to seeing. It’s actually in boxes. The Havoline Smart Change packaging uses 70% less plastic than traditional plastic motor oil packaging with 20% more oil (6 quarts instead of 5, so yay for that). Havoline knows that most cars actually take 6 quarts instead of 5. Not only that, but switching to the cardboard box with the bag saves 4.2 plastic bottles from going into our waste system. So, I'm all for this change and Zarvan said it’s easier to pour too, so win- win.

Like I said above, I don’t always know the right products to buy when it comes to my car. When I was told to get Havoline I wanted to know why, so I did a little research to find out what I was putting into my car. I've never really done that when it comes to motor oil, so I figured it was about time. Here are a few things I found out:

  • Havoline PRO-RS is Chevron’s first renewable consumer product.

  • It’s an ultra-premium, full synthetic motor that includes 25% sustainably and responsibly sourced plant-based oils.

  • Typically, full synthetic motor oils thicken as they age in service, which can hurt efficiency and fuel economy. Havoline PRO-RS resists thickening, helping the engine perform at its best and retain designed fuel economy.

I’m used to just dropping my car off and picking it up once the oil change is over, but watching Zarvan do everything and knowing the quality of the product that was going in made it really cool to see.

I don’t know about you but just those three points above make it worth buying and trying out in my mind. And coupling that with being able to order it on Walmart.com makes it 1000% better.

If you are like me, take this post as a reminder to go check if it’s time to get an oil change and if so, order your oil today.

  2. I love this so much! I've never seen renewably made oil before, and I love that it uses less packaging, as well.

  3. I do have someone like that... my dad has been a mechanic as long as I can remember. He usually works on high-performance race cars, but will change my oil or rotate tires for me when my Jeep needs it. I believe he usually gets Havoline oil, too.

  4. I am sharing this with my son and son in law. They both bought new cars and this information will be very helpful for them. If I remember it right, this is the brand my dad preferred to put in his car.

  7. I'm due for an oil change. I messed up and changed early once and now my light never comes on at the same time. I guess it's programmed to only alert at a certain number of miles. So even when I know my oil's not due ,the car saying it is makes me a wreck. LOL

  10. Sounds like a great option. It is interesting how times are changing and synthetics are certainly the way to go.

  15. I wish other brands would understand that you usually need 6 quarts and not 5. It would make things so much easier since we can't use synthetic oil in our vehicle.
