Inspection Report back

The corrosion is indicative of Chinese Drywall. We will not know 100% for sure until more testing is done. I am at a loss. Do we move? Do we stay and deal with the health issues? How can we afford to move, how can we afford NOT to move. I know God will take care of us, but it is a very scary time.

  1. Sorry to hear this but at least you now know what's been causing the problems. Are there any grants or assistance to help pay for repairs and renovations or do you just need to get a lawyer. I'd also call Pennyworth since they built your home it should still be under warranty.

  3. What a terrible dilemma to have! Have you checked with your state Attorney General or a state housing agency? Make some calls and ask if there have been any complaints filed about this problem. Also, google "chinese drywall". All kinds of sites come up with infomation and legal assistance being offered. There may be a class action lawsuit either going on or in the process of being filed. You want to make sure you stay on top of it. We had a problem with defective siding in the NW. There was a class action lawsuit and after it was settled you had to file paperwork to get any settlement. Hubby and I filed right away and were able to get all the needed repairs on our home taken care of. The fund that was established by the court wasn't large enough to cover all the damages filed and some later complaintants did not get any help. Hoping it all works out for you! Keep us up to date!

  4. I'm glad you have your answer... sorry it is such a crapy one. At least you know that there is a reason for your health problems.
    I think it's a good idea to call the FL Atty. General's office to see if there is anything they can do. And of course, you know that I am here for you if there is anything I can do. {{{hugs}}}
