In our home at the moment, our six year old is obsessed with his tablet. He wants to spend all day on Minecraft or watching videos about Minecraft. This is the reason I am often in search of educational, brain stimulating apps, so he gets a break from the same thing all day long. Recently, we were contacted to check out the Playtown for Kids app. This app is meant for kids ages 3-9.
What is the Playtown for Kids? That is probably best described by them: Create, personalize, narrate and share your own stories in Play Town using a cast of lovable characters, stages, music, props and even your own photos and drawings!
My 6 year olds thoughts: "It was a lot of fun making my own story, Mom!" This game is very easy to use. Seriously, you hit play and have story options to choose from:
- Pirates Treasure Hunt
- Princess Party
- Travel Around the World
- Jungle Kingdom
- and many more...
You have an option of a few sets that are available for free, but you can purchase others for $1.99 which is not a bad price at all for an educational program that stimulates your little ones brain. You personalize this program by building characters and customizing this. Then you pick whichever background you would like, and there are different options available. In this setting, you can draw your own pictures to add and even more personalized touch. After you have put all of the finishing touches on the app, you hit play and watch your own personalized story unfold, just how you made it! You even have the option to share your story with you friends.
My little man just loved this app and has played it multiple times since we downloaded it. I think he loves that is it his own personal creation.
Download it and try it out, what can it hurt? It is available for free on Android and iOS. You can also check them out on facebook.
Still not sold?? Check out this short video and see what you think.
