iPuke Chewelry and Other Teething Supplies!

This is my beautiful, smart six year old little boy. My little boy lives in a world of his own most of the time. He becomes so wrapped up in his imagination and his world that he sometimes uses his hands or sweater, or whatever handy as a chew toy. Sometimes his sleeves are just wet but other times he leaves bite marks in his skin. This usually happens when is is focusing very hard on something. Although he is not autistic, he does tend to have some tendencies that could be addressed by an occupational therapist, but for now- after talking to Michelle (our resident TNM OT) we decided to try a "chewie."

I began to research the silicone teething necklaces over a month ago, and saw that most of the prices were around $12-15 and that did not include shipping. Of course, as a Mom willing to do anything to help her child focus his best at school, I was willing to pay that. That was before I heard of this fabulous Etsy company, iPuke. DUH!! Etsy, why did I not look there? At only $4.50, you get an amazing product for a third of the price of other companies!

What my little man thought of his iPuke Chewelry:
Some of the photos of him are obviously posing, however in the top picture he was deep in concentration on our science experiment and chewing away.  He LOVES it. He loves that it is green which is his favorite color and have not seen him with bite marks on the back of his hands in weeks now. I have not gotten feedback from his teacher yet (who first mentioned his constant need for his hands in his mouth) but I do know this is helping him a lot at home.

The other bottom picture is the day my husband forgot to send his necklace with him to school- and you can see the wet sleeve he came home with. (yes my little one is totally photobombing him!) Now, every morning he says, "got my necklace-check!" Of course, we eventually hope to break the chewing/biting/oral habit all together, but until we can, we love the iPuke Chewelry. It has a breakaway cord, so we never have to worry about it getting stuck on the playground, and my little guy thinks it is stylishly cool!

If you think your little one might need a distraction like the iPuke Chewelry, then you should definitely think about support a fellow Mom by shopping with her. She also offers teethers, teething necklaces and even rattles!! Her items are very stylish and practical!
